Default Fitment Issues with AIT Front Lip

I just received the V1 lip, and I notice a problem. I wanted to make sure the lip fits my bumper but it does not fit perfectly. Is this the right or wrong lip for my 08 z?

05+ has a different front bumper from 03-05 so you might have gotten the 03-05 lip because that fitment looks really off

This is where I got the lip. It says it fits 03-08, which i find odd. since the bumpers vary from 03-05 and 06+

Corrected for accuracy

OP, this is why you don't buy parts from a random website. Contact them and try to return the part since it was not made for an 06+ front bumper

Looks like AIT Racing from the color of the primer. It should fit better than that, but AIT is known not to fit perfect.

I just contacted the guy and he tells me that by heating the lip (leaving the lip on the sun for 45 mins) will make the lip flexible enought to fit on my 08 bumper. Now I have search threads and I do not see one DIY about heating the lip inorder to fit the lip. I think I shall return it.

Correct. I just notice the name on the back of the lip. They wanted me to heat the darn thing. I do not think its worth it.

If it was an 06+ front lip and there was a small gap you could have fixed it by using a heatgun but this won't help you at all, the gap is too large.

I say just return it

Hot damm, this guy wont take no for an answer. I keeps talking that the lip does fit. Its just that your have to heat it up to soften the flexibility inorder for the lip to fit. To me it sounds iffy.

I do not see any threads complaining about this lip company claiming that it fits all Z bumpers.

So, if I were to get either Mines or Veilside (real) http://www.versustradingco.com/#/ite...frp_front_lip/

would they both fit perfectly without doing the heating process?

No front lip should be compatible between the 2 bumpers. The 06+ bumper is wider at the bottom as well as the area under the grille leaving 03-05 lips multiple inches short. How does this portion fit under the grille?:

^^Exactly, I thougth there was an indent on the 06+, shouldnt even fit.

Yes, the mines will fit very well, and the veilside is authentic so that too. Check out the mines v1 thread

The lip is a little short to fit in in the grille area. The upper portion of the lip where it stays on the grille looks like a upside-down trapazoid shape, which is off and wierd looking.

The guy keeps telling me that the all bumpers on the lower section are the same size and it should fit. The moment he said that I wanted to return this product right away. I ended up with some scratches with this darn lip. Learned my lesson.

I actually have an 03-05 lip in my Jeep, the section I pointed out measured 35 1/2" from point to point, straight across. The 06+ should be longer than that.

Return the lip,it is not made for your bumper.
It looks like a 03-05 fit(maybe).
A proper fitting lip should just pop into place...no gaps.
Another case of paying for what you get.
No amount of heat is gonna change anything.
How did you pay for the lip?
Credit card/PayPal...contact them to dispute.
Anything I order online its with AMEX.They will
handle if there is a problem with the goods.

That guy is an idiot, do not listen to him

If he doesn't let you return it I would try to contact your credit card company or worst case just sell it on the forum and someone will want it I'm sure

just search online and show him that there ARE differences between the two lips, or even go to mines or w e and show him that 03-05 don't fit on 06+, he can't argue with proof

No excuse that a $300 front lip should fit this poorly. A $99 eBay bumper maybe but not $300.

AIT Racing @#%R$@#$ I found this out installing the INGS LX sides, really F#$k up fitment wise. I only paid 50.00 for the pair and did all the work myself to make them fit. Send it to me I need another project.
