Default Durability of Fiberglass Bumpers?

Hi,

I just got into my first 350z accident where i might require a new front bumper.
I did not see any threads about the reliablity of fiberglass bumper such as VIS so i thought i ask people with VIS aftermarket fiberglass bumper experience on how reliable is the bumper on accidents.

Reliable and fiberglass don't belong in the same sentence. Get a poly urethane bumper, your two options are aerosync or nismo v2. Very VERY durable. Or you can get a stock bumper with a lip. But I wouldn't even mess with a fiberglass bumper if you have to question the reliability of it. I've ran fiberglass before, but if you're looking for something that won't shatter in an accident than poly would be a little better. However they're both break under the right conditions.

Its a good thing i asked before i buy the fiberglass bumper. But i could not find the nismo v2 bumper anywhere. Its as if they stop making the v2. Where can i get it?

Unless you are going with another OEM bumper,I'd be concerned not only with
the material(they will all break given the circomstances),but the fit.
I'd look at Shine bumpers for great fit and quality.

My damm insurance won't cover for a bumper but rather fix it instead in order to save money. Cheap SOBs!

Reliabe is a poor word when referring to body parts... you mean quality. Contact Shine as they make the best fitting reps. Stay away from VIS and Extreme Dimensions.

Retitled for easier searching

I would have to +1 with what people have said, I would definitely recommend to stay away from them if possible and go with a Polyurethane version instead

Even the higher quality Carbon can take more of a beating, I had an authentic VeilSide front lip that really stood up to the abuse of daily driving in LA

Did you mean carbon or carbon fiber (are they the same)? Because one of the vendors that sells the authentic veil side told me that the FRP is more repairable than the carbon. If carbon brakes you have to replace it.

FRP is nothing but a pretty name for Fiberglass... Carbon fiber is carbon.

Some fiberglass body parts can be really nice (Think of the factory corvette parts).

Unfortunatley in order to make a good mold you need a car there to mock up the design and part on the car. With that being said most of the copy products are sent to china off the car and then molded so they usually dont fit that well and normally they are missing tabs for the install.

I just ordered some parts through a local dealer.. fast shipping. AIT parts.. all of them I had to cut apart and bolt to the car then re-glass and reshape them so I could get a near perfect install. I only paid 300 for them all so I guess I got what I paid for.

If you have a good body shop they can make it work.. but its going to cost.
