Default Rear wiper delete mod completed

Just had my buddy finish the rear wiper delete this morning.
Looks perfect to me.

If anyone is looking to do this, it is fairly simple, cheap, and quick.

- 1 inch metal hole plug (ACE hardware stores carry them)
- silicone to make the hole water-tight

The 1 inch plug is a little too big to fit in the wiper hole, so you will have to sand the hole down a bit for a snug fit. Then apply the silicone to both the outside and inside of the hole.

The other option is using a sink stopper and there are several other threads that show all of the steps for both options.

There is also a guy who makes the kits with the OEM color-matched plug for $35 at rearwiperdelete.com/products. I didn't know how long it would take to ship and the metal plugs only cost a dollar each, so I figured that the DIY method was better for me.

Overall, I am really happy with the cleaner look.

May I suggest either color matching it, or blacking it out to match the trim around the rear window? At any rate, props for DIY.

You need to paint that with something, black paint even but silver is too noticeable

yeah i use mine from time to time to rid condensation in the morning, or for parking when it's raining. i live in the northwest so you know it rains a lot.

that and i do not have a garage..

at any rate, im sure you can get touch up paint and do it yourself. its a fairly small piece. or have a shop paint it

I used the sink stopper for mine and a freinds. I did mine a couple years ago, no regrets. I did my friends last night, along with a gut of the hatch.

Yes, match the plug to the paint and it will look 100X better.

Also, take out the squirt nozzle and it will complete the look.

Agree with all of you guys about the color matching and how it would look a bit better, but I like that little bit of silver in there. Otherwise, I would definitely go with that daytona blue or black.

Is the removal of that little spray nozzle easy to do? I didn't look into it yet.

First of all,I use my rear wiper.
Secondly, you must not be very particular about how your car looks.
To have this silver half dollar size plug on your rear deck left unfinished
really looks bad.I bet people will think its a coin or something
and try to remove it.At least get some touch up in your color code and paint that
sucker.Looks as thought this may be your first attempt at this type of thing.
At least a E for effort.

You enlarged the hole by sanding it? IIRC there are a few DIY on here with better fitting plugs.

This was more of a post to show others that is was an easy modification to do. I wasn't making an attempt to tell others to do the same thing and to also keep the silver paint on the plug. If I like the look, that is all that matters to me.

Thanks for the link to that thread cgkp0925

To me it is pointless unless you shave it clean. I thought that was the whole basis for this mod in the first place.....a smooth clean look.

Lee R, do a lot of the other modifications shave down the top of the plug/stopper, so that the piece is very flat and almost on the same plane as the exterior surface around the hole? What type of tool should I use to shave that down? Thanks

Haha, I have only been reading into the forums on here for a few weeks, but I know that there are a lot of members who are very conscious of that tiny weight difference between the two materials. That's awesome for you then. My Smurfette is going to be a little heavyset
