Default Upgrading to Leather Seats?

Hey guys, i have been looking into purchasing a 350z for about a month now and one main thing that is factoring into my decision is leather seats. I really would like to get one with leather seats because it gives me a much better luxurious feeling. Anyway, if i do buy a Z with cloth seats, how much does it cost to change it to leather seats? Also will the new leather seats i put in be heated? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Since you want leather and you're looking to PURCHASE a car.. and not replace/upgrade the seats in your car>>>>>

Do yourself a favor and get one with them already in and heated. I suppose you can buy a leather kit (they have them on line) for $600 and pay an upholstery shop to install it (another $600?). Of course..you *could* install it yourself if you're good at those things and have the time. You still have the heating to deal with..that's a separate issue. They have kits for that and....another hastle for you.

Yea that makes sense. I just wanted a general price, which you gave me. All the Z's in my area that are a good price have cloth seats which sucks. Wouldnt it be cheaper to buy oem leather seats and pay someone to install them for me?

You might be able to find a set of seats from auto salvage. You can do an online search. Also, put request here in classified as *parts wanted*..it's free.
Installing them is pretty basic.

Installing custom good looking leather seats is not an issue. The heated seat is a different issue. Take your time and buy one that comes with heated seats. It would make it easier even if the leather is messed up. There are DIYs for installation.
Not hard if you have the time. Paying someone to install shoud be around 250-300

Also, most Zs with cloth seats are base model, which also exclude cruise control and the LSD.

Take it from me, installing the heated leather seats in a base is a pain in the a**.

Anything but a base model is easy to swap leather seats into and make the seat heaters work.

+1 on saving yourself the hassle and buying one already installed

I'd just try and find one with leather already.

i had a very easy time w my upgrade.

I have an enthus w cruise and all the fun stuff, just not power seats, which are even heavier than the non powered ones..

My seat leather cost me 690 on a special deal.. usually the upgraded quality and content kits run around a grand.. i paid 160 to have them installed professionally by a local shop.

the end result is unique to say the least w far greater materials and leather coverage than the factory.
Leatherseats.com also was able to retain the black color on the back of mine.. katzkins will not do this and makes the seat look chunky and fat.. lame.

ANyways, in case you find a steal of a car w out leather, the option to add it is very very simple. Heated seats are quite the same.. leave it to a professional and the charge will be VERY minimal.

Its not hard. Just a little time consuming. $600 from leather seats.com and about 4-6 hours of your time.

Heres mine:

Some of those spots that look loose/wrinkled went away after a month or so.

I'll have to take one tomorrow if I remember. I think part of the deal with these pics is the angle of the sun made it look more pronounced. In person, even right after install it didn't look as drastic as it looks in the pictures. In fact, there has never been a single person (including a lot of Z/G owners) that asked if they were aftermarket- except for the burnt orange on the Interlagos Fire exterior.

Just a note, for anyone considering installing them yourself- the seat covers from leatherseats.com are pretty much a perfect fit. I only had the small wrinkles at the top because I was being lazy. I could have put the ring in tighter once I realized the wrinkles were there, but didn't feel like taking the extra step (I know, I know)... I wanted to see if the summer sun/heat would shrink it- which it did. Wrinkles will not be there if you do it correctly. Now, ebay seats and catskinz, I have no idea and cannot vouch for their fitment.

Looks good. Looking to get a set soon. My question is, does the procedure to remove the stock covers make them unusable?. I mean can you go back to putting them on again?.

Thanks

Yes, but the headrests have fabric that is glued on. Unless you can slip the leather over them (probably possible) you will destroy them getting them off.
