Default Tolerances on VIS CF hood fit: Is this acceptable?

After receiving my new hood (and some other bits) last week, I finally had some nice weather to do a test fit.

Have a peek at this album and let me know what you guys think.

The tolerances look terrible to me. More than 1/4" on both sides. Is this "normal" for a VIS hood?

Opinions appreciated...

An OEM hood gap is 1/4".Don't know exactly what "more than" 1/4" means.
Carbon fiber hoods can be a hit or miss. Also, the color contrast between your
body color&the CF makes the gap seem larger.

no hood fits very well aside from the OEM.. they all have fitment issues...but that is certainly a larger gap than i have ever seen personally.
