So if you end up upside down what stops the roof from coming down on you (even just 6") and where are you going to go. Nowhere, because you are strapped in and held upright so your spine gets compressed and you break your neck or die. Is the chance small, yes but that's why they're called accidents, no one plans for it to happen but it can and that should be your motivation when doing this and not to just look cool to those that don't know any better. I'm done on this topic, Ive tried to help you understand the dangers but its just not sinking in I guess. I'll just go back to pointing and laughing at people with a harness and no roll bar and let them enjoy their ignorance (they say it's bliss), at least I get a laugh out of it at their expense.

A harness is make to be run with a proper seat (at your height are the harness slots high enough in the seat ) , with proper safety gear ( Hans device) and of course all 5/6 points properly mounted and worn. That is a major commitment.

Without the whole package, you are better off wearing the regular seatbelt. It has been tested and proven for road use.

How much crash testing do you think Sparco and NRG does with any car using their harness bar, full harness and race seat ? NONE!!! I'll bet Nissan even did roll over testing with their system.

I understand what you and others are saying, and honestly thank you for sharing your input and views on this topic. I am not saying anyone is wrong or what your saying is false. I value what you gentlemen have said and I am still in the hunt for the best option for me. I am looking to find a way that i can get a roll cage to fit my application (I am mainly concerened about my height and i have read that kirk cages take up 4inches of space)

Terrasmak, i know you have a kirk cage, could you help me in this decision and show me exactly how much room you have behind your seats WITH the 4pt cage installed?

I realize that Sparco, NRG, Enjuku and other harness bar manufacturers haven't done testing as it's to costly and not worth their time.

I do thank you for your input and for SR71's email. I have learned some things from you guys and I am trying to put a plan together I just hope this will also educate those who are reading this thread and maybe bring some attention to their future plans and hope they do some research as I am still doing.

i think the harness only bars are a great idea for parking lot drifting only.. so they DO have their place. Theres plenty of 350z motoring scenarios that dont invlove high speeds or terrain that could reasonably cause flipping a vehicle w any crush factor. Think newb drift dinking around.. its what i see ppl doing the most around here. Rarely do i see turn entrance speeds over 40 mph here lol.. and when i do, its double that and are in full decked out pro race cars.

Aside from that, most all of the posts in the thread are valid cautionary notes; Its good to KNOW what can happen w that kind of bar vs be unaware and think you are safe for high speeds.

NOt so much.

But if you drift locally at 4omph around some cones and want something better than OEM seatbelts, then id imagine youd be fine. I just wouldnt rock em on the freeway for sure. again, the Enjuku bar allows oem seatbelts to stay installed so you can leave your harnesses behind the seats until needed.
