Thanks for all the negative input!

I ignored everyone and got a set anyway. Here they are installed:

Not an attractive headlight for sure. I wouldn't say they are ugly - just weird. I am used to chrome-look headlights; these are black housings. They certainly don't match the rest of the car. I will probably have to get some blacked-out stuff elsewhere for it to all match.

As far as brightness goes, they look much brighter than my old worn foggy halogens. We will have to wait for night to see how bright they really are.

My goal was not to beat HID in brightness. I just don't want to ever change a headlight bulb again.

Back in the days, I prefer this Q45 retro. Good luck with the new headlights.

You do realize the average life of an HID will outlast the life of your car right?

Not true, not even close. A car will out last any current HID bulb, the average OEM/Philips bulb is designed to last 3000 hours or about 5 years.

Lol, you're right, I just read it in a brochure while I was getting my car serviced at the dealership.

led array headlights will be the next thing that pops up on nicer cars and will trickle down to commuter vehicles very soon, mark me words

On that note, i doubt these are they kind of array quality that youd see on a high end Audi.

Nightime update: Sorry my cell-phone pictures are bad. The auto adjust feature totally ruins it, but here they are anyway.

Impressions:
So this effect is hard to see in the pictures, but the light is not spot-beam at all. It reminds me of my movie projector when a movie isn't playing - just a clean even sheet of light. It is kinda eerie to drive with these cause it is hard to tell where your light stops and starts. It is a night-vision effect. I don't really have lights, the world is just brighter. These shoot light everywhere, and they illuminate the tops of telephone poles and trees. Notice how that street sign which is way off to the left on the other side of the road just glows.

The color temperature is as perfect as you could hope for. I am used to knowing where my lights are by where things are yellow or regular. Now everything is just bright. Other people's headlights now seem dingy yellow.

The total output of light is high, but that lack of a spot-beam in the middle is a big issue. These lights don't seem to pierce down the road very far for how bright they are. I am sure HID would beat them on that account, but not the halogens.

Yes, the headlights were quite heavy. They are mostly empty inside except for a circuit board and the LEDs, but each LED has a big metal heatsink. LEDs lights are small but heavy.

These headlights are NOT ADJUSTABLE. So I think I am going to get flashed by a lot of drivers.

Although LED is the tech of the future, and these lights have those benefits; this is clearly a first-generation product.

Here you go.

Either I am bad at photographing lights, or these things really glare. I worked hard to get that one clear picture. The led lens flares were unavoidable though.

You got that right!

I have yet to see any type of after-market headlights with proper beam flow! You get what you pay for most of the time!
