Hey guys i wanted to change my car up a bit so I decided to vinyl wrap it, I got quoted by the local shops starting at 3G's. Did some research on vinyl and vinyl application and decided to go for it myself, went online and purchase 35ft of Hexis frozen gray vinyl for $300 and 5ft of Hexis carbon fiber for the hood for $80: total cost of project just over $400. This was my first attempt at wrapping a car and I think it turned out pretty great
the fist pics are from before I did the wrap. Let me know what you think, and I know I need rims I have some 19" Vossen CV3 on the way. The wrap ended up taking the better part of 35 hours but it was well worth it in the end to be able to say I did that and also it was kinda a fun weekend project

Reason: missed some information
Did you end up taking each peice off the car to wrap it? also what brand did you use.
the only parts i took off were the A pillars and front bumper probably shoulda took off the rear bumper too but regardless it still worked. The brand i used is called Hexis its from france, its not very big in North America but in europe it is held in very high regards
far harder to wrap things off the car than when they are installed.
yes and no when it came to the bumpers it was easier off the car so that i wasn't trying to wrap it while laying on the ground, but while its on the car you are able to better work it.
So after a while do they start peeling off? Does this have any major disadvantages?
Great job!. I did my interior. It's fun.
Thanks it shouldn't start peeling if it is done properly i didn't do one of my rear quarter panels properly(didn't clean under fender) and some water and wind got in at speed and had to redo the quarter. In theory Hexis under proper conditions will come off clean with no hassle up to 10 years but it varies dependent on local weather conditions. Disadvantages if you get keyed you have to do the whole panel again, bird **** is the same as paint get it off fast, and its a matte finish so you cant use conventional wax i use meguiars spray on quick wax ($5 a bottle) as it is opaque and doesn't change the finish i do that every 2nd or 3rd wash (Vancouver roads are super dirty right now) and the washes i don't wax i use meguiars ultimate detailer. if you had to money i believe swissvax makes a wax that lasts quite a bit longer for matte finish but it is like 600 a bottle. Biggest hassle is stupid people asking why its matte
I also wrapped my interior with the faux carbon fibre i hated the stock ping pong texture
Just curious if you do wrap your car different color do you have to notify the DMV?
I'm in Canada so i don't know sorry, with ICBC (I believe our equivalent of DMV) my VIN hasn't changed so technically my color hasn't change because if i peel off the wrap my car is still black.
The flat silver looks good. I like everything but the carbon fiber hood. If you're going for the carbon fiber look, get actual carbon fiber. It's a pet peeve of mine, but if you're fine with it, whatever.
