Red face AMS-GT: VIS or Duraflex ED

Has anyone had experience with this kit specifically?

Ive decided to get an aftermarket front and back bumper,
Im firm on my choice of getting the AMS-GT both made by ED and VIS

http://www.andysautosport.com/nissan...m09501367.html

http://www.andysautosport.com/nissan...r95001755.html

before shipping
Front and back bumper for Duraflex: $536
Front and back bumper for VIS: $878

Id like to least worry about fitment and paying my shop more
for POS quality fiberglass bumper that heavily needs modding.

Ive heard bad reviews about all fiberglass products but even
worse reviews about Duraflex. But damn its price is nice

My main question, is it really worth the 342 extra dollars for the VIS
to avoid fitment issues? Or regardless they'd both have issues and just
go with Duraflex. Perhaps Vis would have less issues?

I know you get what you pay for but I wanna get a good price! Lol thanks

I'm going to say something you don't want to hear / aren't going to listen to.

ED makes terrible products. VIS makes .. average/less than average quality products. you should pick the lesser of the two evils here. neither of them are high quality and you should expect to be paying some shop labor to make them fit right.

prepare thy angus - you're looking at a 2000$ bill from the body and paintwork. might as well do sideskirts at the same time.

PM the vendor as the pricing is lower, I've been happy with Duraflex products. I've seen a few members buy that front bumper w/o fitment issues.

I have this front bumper, didnt care for the rest of the kit. VIS is the only one that makes this bumper, ED picture is a photoshopped picture as the real bumper looks a bit different. Look in my garage for a picture.

Fitment from VIS was pretty spot on, I had it painted before fitted and I just installed myself. Only thing though is you will need to take off your front crash guard. To some its a deal breaker.

Price I paid was about $550 +$150 shipping with another front bumper for a friend. It is one of the most expensive fiberglass bumpers I think as you can get a nismo v2 for half that price.

This was my thread, has some great suggestions on how to make this aggressive bumper work:

pretty spot on? not proving too many pictures but from that one I see, it does not line up at all where the bumper meets the fender. it looks like the hood->front bumper section lines up decently but that's about it.

that would bother me greatly.

I got the VIS font and it fits pretty well. I had to do some minor sanding around the headlights and re-drill most of the mounting holes. The front where the hood meets the bumper isn't perfectly uniform all the way across but then again its probably as close as my oem was. I also had to trim a bunch of the inner radiator duct back to clear my intercooler but that's a different story.

It turned out nice and I'm happy with it.

That was because of a bolt there that popped off... but as far as aftermatket goes its as easy as its gonna get.

why did the bolt pop off? are we discussing ease of installation or actual fitment and looks?

anyone have site or vendor recommendations for the VIS AMS GT front bumper? Not a fan of ED and their products at all but like the style of this.

Just wanted to add my $0.02 on ED's kit. I just purchased it and brought it to my body guy. They tested it and said they could not even work with it going as far to say it was the worst quality fitment body kit they have ever seen. I personally went and checked it out and they were right.

I will give ED props for owning up to the poor quality of the product and after I sent them pics of purposely cracked body parts, they promptly refunded me.

I have never understood the problem with body kit manufacturers. Do a good quality job on research up front, build a die that creates a good OEM fitment, and replicate. I know I am over simplifying it but it seems there are too many times when fitment is just terrible.

It's what you get for buying knock-off parts from these companies. Buy the original manufacturers and get good quality parts, while supporting them for their design work.

I honestly don't know how ED is still in business from all the negative I hear...

I have a VIS Nismo V2 that I fitted myself and only needed small adjustments to the predrilled holes. No other issues with it and when I took it to get a quote on paint my body guy said it was the nicest looking fiberglass part he has seen in a long time and will have no issues prepping and painting it.

Although VIS is nice I plan on going with Shine for my NISMO sides.

I found a wholesaler to get me the bumper for $130 from ED brand new.
And I could come and inspect it before hand.

Im very well connected with one of SOCALs best autobody shops(many awards recieved also), and he said 100 bucks to paint and mount the bumper and a pair of side skirts. along with some other small things
Should I fork out the extra cash for VIS or just not worry about it with the ED since I know its going to be the same price?
