I have three GT spoilers setup that I want purchase to use on my 350Z to setup for track duty. I just need some professional opinions from track experience or experts to point me to right the direction regarding of the use of these three GT spoilers setup. Which of these three spoilers are better in terms of aerodynamics (downforce and drag), weight, price and lastly appearance. Other GT spoilers recommendation welcome.
APR GT300
Voltex Type 8 GT
Esprit GT

Aeromotions: R-static spoiler design for both the 350Z/370Z are little bit more pricy than the APR GT300. It sells for $1,699 with 2D design carbon spoiler.
Kognition: Their spoilers sell price is the most affordable so far at $899, not sure if that is true, because they say they provide CAD specific design for 350Z mounting spoiler brackets for you to fabricate, or the mounting is included with the spoiler. Other than that, you get to choose wing span up to 78" 2D spoiler carbon design for reasonable price point.
Fulcrum: Too pricy for 2D design spoiler at $1,700 plus shipping. They claimed their 14" chord design provides more downforce than the 12" with less drag added. Also, they claimed, bigger is better. I am not sure if this is their marketing strategy to trying to sell the products. But they did provide some useful information. This is directly from their website.
Chord Downforce Drag
12 inches 299 lbs. 22.2 lbs
14 inches. 350 lbs. 22.9 lbs
This table shows the same profile at 12 and 14 inches, at 100 mph and at max angle of attack. You can see that the downforce has increased by 18%, while the drag has increased by only 3 percent.12 inches 299 lbs. 22.2 lbs
14 inches. 350 lbs. 22.9 lbs
Thanks for the Info, Terrasmak
. The last three spoiler design companies you provided, I did not even know they were existed. What spoiler did you run on your car?So the question is, in aerodynamic terms. Which is a better spoiler design, 2D or 3D airfoil design? Which one is theoretically and ideally provides more downforce and aero drag? I don't know, but what I do know is, I like the look of the 3D spoiler.
Track chunkies, feel free join in to speculate.
I run an APR 300 in the narrower of the 2 sizes available. I was thinking about swapping over the the Aeromotions wing, but probably not. Make sure you install a splitter up front, it is really needed with the wing, mine is in work now.

however really depends on what type of track you will be running on most of the time. those with alot turns, i would suspect you want a higher downforce design wing, but with tracks with long straights and top speed is important, go with a lower drag configuration.
depending on what class you want to goto, some of the active aero designs such as the Aeromotions may not be allowed.
as much as i want to agree with Terramak for his suggestion, i also think a great viable are the designs from Voltex. they have many width and element design choices and are windtunnel tested, not just CFD simulated. I also like their wing pedestal mounts, better than "the heavier than it should" be mounts from APR, but you can always go custom on that.
also...check out the SARD "GT Fuji" wing and z33 specific bases... good single element low drag design and i think it flows excellent with our body lines..

^^^ very good points, I really agree with the 2d vs 3d points, the reason I kept my APR over an Aeromotions. To add on what was said above, remember wings are adjustable. An AOA gauge and 1 minute is all it takes to adjust for different tracks.
Last, I have to agree with the Voltex comment. Great wing, really nice mounts. The big issue I have with then, customer service. The brands I mention can easily be called, much easier to do then trying to contact JDM land.
The Chebosto, what do you mean by "'heavier than it should" for the APR mounts. Mine are really lightweight , very similar to many other brands I have seen at the track.

well. based on the the GT500 and GT300 applications i've seen on Zs, evo X, S2ks, and G35s, they all have that same thick aluminum pedestals and those really chunky base plates where the pedestals insert into, which is then placed ontop of the trunk lid. several instances i've seen the pedestals they add little bits of trianglular material to create or cover the OEM wing hole mounts. maybe its not the pedestal themselves, but perhaps the hardware. the adjustable risers are threaded, right? so that adds more weight instead of a large pedestal with multiple holes drilled into it to adjust AoA.
case1:

you can see the little triangle pieces on the leading edge of the pedestal. and see how thick that pedestal is? i think it's like 1/2" or something. perhaps if it was a single machined piece and you didnt have that much additional hardware to mount, the trunk wouldn't weigh a ton. I think you can get the same structural rigidity in the pedestals with a thinner pedestal thickness and proper trunk mounts.
case 2:

i know why they did this, so its more universal fitment for many cars, just maybe use the airfoil, and get custom mounts made. but not all trunks are flat, and when it is flat, you have to place those flat bases higher up than what is typically done at the rear edge of the trunk or what not.
+1 on the customer support on the APR.. KC has already been really fast to answer my questions when i've dealt with APR.. Voltex you have to go through Evasive or another dealer, and sometimes that a little tough.

Kognition may be harder to get, I don't think he is making them anymore. With that said, I swapped out to a 68 inch chassis mounted Kognition. More downforce with less drag, great wing.
yea i have read a few bad reviews about kognition. but the people that do end up getting one swear by them makes it a hard choose.
if u had a choice would u stay at 68 or do something different.

Check out the company that Mike bought his wing from https://my350z.com/forum/autocross-r...tt3-build.html , it may be a great alternative to Kognition.

Anyone have experience with wings from BattleAero?
