Default Headlight Help.

My dumbass had my headlights painted black. At a customs shop. Mixed with a clear coat of course. Have a 2006 z don't know what lights I can get that will show better than the ones I have. If the 06 comes stock with hid am I screwed? I'll strip the paint if I have to. But wanna explore options first. Lights seem to have to warm up. When I first turn them on. If that helps any.

So, you painted/tinted the lenses black, the headlights are now too dim, and you want brighter bulbs? Perhaps post a pic - hard to tell what you're asking.

With the headlights that you have, painting the chrome black wouldn't make much of a difference as they are projector type. If you had the 03-04 headlights and painted all the chrome black, it would take away from the headlight beam regardless of they were hid or not. Get brighter/new bulbs and try that out. You have hid so find out what you want and try them out. Sometimes the bulbs sort of turn a yellow tint if they were old. A long time ago I had changed out one of my bulbs (same brand and bulb) thinking it would be ok but you can tell the difference between the old and new. Hopes this helps.

Oh yeah, you have the latest style headlights. Post pics though, I may be wrong. 2006 Zs have newer headlights

I'm confused. Did you have the interior of the lights painted black, or the lens tinted black? I ask because you said "Mixed with a clear coat of course."

So, you tinted the lenses, the outer part which used to be clear? If yes, then you're kind of screwed, unless you can get that paint removed and get the lenses sanded/polished to be clear again. Check out one of the threads here regarding repairs to lenses which have become clouded from exposure to the sun. There are a few. Basically, the procedure involves wet-sanding with progressively finer and finer paper, and then machine polishing.

It will never look oem again. Sorry bud but sounds like you need new headlights. They're cheaper now than they were 3 years ago when I bought mine.

1000 or 1200, 1500, and 2000 sand paper. Sanding with water and a compound/polish and a buffer. Good as new, trust me. It'll take some time but way better then buying new. Or just sell them to me

Sanding or buy a cheap pair of ebay light and swap the lenses.
