Shopping for New SEATS
Hello guys,
right now, i am shopping for some new seats for my car..currently i have the full two tone black leather heated seats with electronic adjustments...i am sure these are comfy but heavy as well...Looking for decent fixed back may be even recline-able...I do occasionally take it to the track..not a daily driver..rarely sees road, only if weather is good.
Initially I was leaned towards, corbeau seats and even got the bracket from one of the forum member, was going for A4 wide ( big boy here) but later I been seeing these seats been sold locally brand new and do have the wide size i do want. I have never heard of them , and not sure if it is a wise safe buy.
they are called F1 spec type 1 and type 2 seats..after a bit of Google it seems they are widely used in Honda community , even in some NSX but now that makes me think this is a cheap seat... they look real nice..come in Kevlar and carbon fiber..the other choice i have is the bride zetal iii xl which is on the real expensive side for me..close to 1g per seat . Also i was mentioned that brackets could be bought from planted technology.com..never heard abt them either until now..so I am confused and i do think i should go back to corbeau as the first plan..i just hate the lettering on the set wish they came plain .

These are replica seats. I would stick with corbeau for the price, or maybe go a little higher and get sparco.
I was going to get corbeau fx1 but decided to wait and get sparco evo II when I have the cash.
Dont buy replica seats, you are going to trust your life in fake seats?

Status FTMFW
Fully customizable, almost any color, pattern, uses every material from leather, Ultrasuede to ostrich and gator. Backing is FRP, carbon fiber or carbon kevlar. Gotta drop some dough though. $$$$$$ http://www.statusracing.com/catalog/status-icon.php

I would prefer the Status seats over bride(errbody doing it). If you search on the site you can get a Status for 600-700 for the basic FPR red cloth...(import image...)
Don't get me wrong I would take a bride if given to me When I do the seat thing in my Z its between the Status or an SPG recaro.
One thing for sure I would stay away from a rep seat.

anyone know how I can tell replica bride digo's from authentic bride digo's? Only thing I found was PDF's on how to distinguish stradia and gias seats that are legit or fake. I am trying to buy some brand new Digos from a local seller. He wants $800 for a pair. Could probably bring it down to $700 for both.

Here's another great option for you and much much cheaper. Little known Canadian company that makes reproductions of Porsche OEM seats. Well known on the 6speedonline forum and some bmw forums.
http://rotteccarbon.com/
I will be buying their sGT3 seats as soon as I get back from my work trip.
Also I keep hearing this "don't get replica seats, they will kill you!!" ...load of **** especially for the fixed back (folding seats mechanisms are a different story), the fixed back... they are all 2-3 layers of fiberglass and/or carbon ALL OF THEM.
What you should concentrate on is getting quality MOUNTS, these will often have sub par welds and are much more likely to fail than the replica fixed back seat, which has pretty much the same construction as the bride/recaro/status seat. (I will be mounting my rottecs on Bride sliders)
Of course the forum warriors that have no clue about these things/ have never spoke to anyone involved in manufacturing fixed back seats/ have no idea what goes into one will continue chanting "replica seats are eee-vil".

sGT3 start @ 1300 for a leather pair with brackets/sliders included
sRS start @ 1100 for a leather pair with brackets/sliders included
Contact the manufacturer for prices without sliders, so you can use something designed for our cars and of high quality.
so yes...much cheaper than a pair of Bride/Recaro/Status. Don't know where you are getting 1900-2300.

1300 for a leather pair ...seriously look at the website, its all spelled out. Yes they are leather, yes its for a pair.
1300/2 = 650 (single leather GT3 fiberglass shell seat with brackets)
Using Evasive as a benchmark as they are the cheapest retailer as far as i know. Please feel free to suggest others.
so...
650<945
650<845
650<725
650<1195
I don't know how much simpler i can make it
