Default Question about painting the strut bar

What will happen f I paint the strut bar on my 350z engine? Will it start to chip because it will be so hot?

And I will be using primer first.

OP I would highly suggest not doing this. The strut bar has been put through many tests and a uneven paint coat would end up screwing your suspension by putting more weight on one side of the car. Don't mess with OEM things unless you want tons of problems in the future and thousands in repairs.

... Use heat resistant paint!

It's a small part - so, it will be inexpensive to get it powdercoated or hydrodipped.

Better still buy a strut bar that looks the business otherwise you're going to end up with a standard strut bar that has been painted and is going to look like a standard strut bar that has been painted and unless the paint is really really good its going to make your standard strut look crap. Check out the market place on here or check fleabay, moreover check out photo's of cars with aftermarket strut bars and just see how hot some of them look and how crap a painted strut bar would look against them.

You'll be fine man. Use heat resistant paint. No primer needed. All I did was make sure it was perfectly clean to paint. I painted mine over 5 years ago, no chips, no flakes, or anything.

Just use brake caliper paint or engine paint and you're fine.

any automotive finish will work fine with clear coat it will never chip or peal if done right ,heat is not a problem just ask yourself one question how hot do you think a hood gets on any summer day in Arizona the desert hot enough too cook an egg on it so you will be fine .I painted a vortech supercharger with automotive paint never any issues. good luck

You'd be better off just buying a cool aftermarket strut bar.
If you insist on painting yours(what color&why?),do it so you get pro
results or,its gonna look ricer.Powder coat or depending on the color,
do a heat resistant wrinkle finish for a Euro look.

Get a cheap eBay strut bar instead, it's only ~40 bucks.

Get it powder coated, you wont regret it.

But since youre being cheap and are looking for cheap mods, any paint will be fine. Dont make it tacky please.
