Adhesive for G35 Splash guards?
For those with G35 rear splashes: what double-sided adhesive are you using? I'm guessing the 3M stuff I got isn't strong enough because a small section of it peels right off from the stress.
Any tricks to mounting them correctly? Should I heat them? I realize this isn't a part made for our cars, but some people have them mounted so perfectly.

That's what I'm using right now. The stuff that's rated for 10 pounds right? It holds fine up until the corner section at the end of the guard. Is the gray molding tape from autozone stronger?

Most everyone is aware of 3-M double sided mounting tape. You can buy it
at all the chain stores,Home Depot etc. Most times this tape will work in mounting
misc.body parts. However,if you want to do a pro job with pro results, use pro
stuff.I do a lot of these types of apps. The best product to use is 3-M Acrylic
Plus Attachment Tape part#06382.It looks the same as the regular 3-M tape.
The mayor difference is the tape itself is black not grey.Black is better if the edge
of the tape is close to the panel to be bonded. In addition, use 3-M Adhesion
Promoter on the surfaces before installing. The part #is,06396.The promoter comes
is pads,"pens" and a liquid.Pads are best for doing body parts. You won't find these
3-M products at the regular auto parts outlets.Paint&body supply stores handle since
guys in the trade use e'm.As mentioned in another post,a clean surface is a must.
Good idea to rough up the surface of the part to be mounted too.Its usually FGlass.
Remember to heat the mounting tape a bit with a hair dryer before pressing the
part on the panel. If its a sunny day,lay it in the sun for a minute.Another thing
that you may encounter, parts like splash guards may not be entirely flush against
the mounting surface.Test fit with the tape on/backing on.If you have an area
that is not flush, you may have to apply another layer of tape to build up the
surface. If found this to be true in some Nismo rear add-ons.The top edge has a
slight gap.As with many parts, depending on who manufacturered the part, the quality
of fit will vary. For example,I've never seen anything from AIT that fit right. Most
Shine stuff is spot on.
If you dothe job right, the part should be on there to stay.
On your splash guards, they should also have a few screws too...

Dropped the dollars on a roll of 3M 06382. I can't believe I just spent $40 on tape.

Yeah, I called. They only had the gray stuff in stock. I guess I'll have plenty for future use.
