Default Headliner material

Looking for options for my headliner. Guy I bought my car from wasn't much for "hygiene". Greasy fingerprints and stains on the light gray headliner. I'm going to have my seats reupholstered this winter. Using a ostrich print leather for the seat inserts and would like to do that on the headliner. Talked to 2 different upholstery shops in my area and one says no problem, easy and will look awesome. Next shop says dont do it, material is too heavy and glue won't hold headliner will sag.
Would like to hear what some of you's have used.

For starters don't skimp on the headliner adhesive. The can should cost you around $20 and you should use all of it.

I don't know how heavy or thick the leather is so I cannot comment on that.

I was really hoping to get a little more feedback on this, suede can't be the only fabric you guys have used to redo your headliners.

Maybe try checking out the caprice/Donk forums, they will have more experience putting ostrich skins on a headliner. Another ruined Z in the making

Real upholstery shops won't use 3m glue for a leather style material on a thick headliner. That requires stitching and actual skilled work.

Do it right the first time. Going budge isn't a good idea for car stuff.

Go to a trusted upholstery shop and choose from their selection or ask for a book with selection ideas.

My favorite is houndstooth.

Have you tried just shampooing the headliner? Mine had a bunch of streaks and crap on it too and I used my little green clean machine to shampoo it. It took pretty much everything out. It took a couple of tries because it's hard to see the spots once the headliner is wet but with a little work, it came out nice and clean.

Having wrapped the headliner, I know that you can use pretty much any fabric/material you choose. I did a micro-suede like many others have and it held up for as long as I had the car.

I'd stay away from ostrich-print leather, but that's just my personal preference. Any weird stuff like that just makes the car harder to sell when the time comes.
