there was one that was just a glorified grounding kit and it was sealed unbelieveable tight so taht it could not be x-rayed or taken apart to see what's inside. funny stuff.

Sorry, missed this post.

I have a US duct on the way so I guess we'll find out soon enough. I had assumed that given our cars are basically JDM spec in other areas this would be the same.

I've compared the images on the other page with the ones from the original air duct post and if what he says is true, its not looking good.

apsilon i maybe wrong. Maybe the US airduct is slightly bigger. Sorry about it . i didn't really notice it much because the size is pretty small or just my angle photo shot is different. Don't it's pretty hard to distinguish from it.
here is mine on the picture

I got an aluminum cover today from StrictlyZ. Came really fast and it looks great.

I went to install the thing this evening and DAMN. Let me state first that I AM mechanically inclined. How do those damn plastic pop rivets come out. Mine are in SO TIGHT! I popped the center piece and it unlocks but as hard as I pull I can't get any one of them to come out. I think I'm pulling fairly hard using a needle nosed plyers around the "popped" part of the rivet for leverage and still no go. Guess I'll wait til tomorrow when I can see things a little more clearly.

Any suggestions? I'm listening.

use a flat head screw driver (smallest one or a small one) and you can pop them easily or you can use a knife to pop it up

My rivets "pop" but they are very securely held in the hole for some reason.

as i said use the flat head screw driver on the base of it. But if that only you don't mind to scratch a bit the paint work on it. which for me i don't mind because it will be covered anyway.

or you mind want to use a cloth cover it and pull with your whole strength using your finger :P

The trick is pop the rivert up but NOT all the way up. Once it comes lose, grab the bottom part of the clip (NOT the insert) and pull it. It should come right off.

It's actually quite easy to pull it out. You don't need any muscles . What you have to do is after popping the rivets, you have to grab near the distal end and not at the base. You then just gently wiggle the rivet out of the hole.

Exactly. The harder you pull the insert...the tighter it will get.
