Default New seat ideas?

I'm getting the urge to check into potentially getting new seats in the near future; my stock '07 black seats look new, but I'd want a performance/racing style, but not full racing seats, more of that styling with some decent comfort for DD, etc. I've looked at some very nice Recaro, Sparco, Bride and others. Just thought I'd try to get some ideas from some of you that know some good brand/models that may fit what I've described.

My interior is black, SM blue exterior and would want to have some seats that contrast with those dark colors and stand out. I do want some comfort with them also, but sporty model that I fit in well; I'm 6'3"/210lbs just so you know as far as good fit, yet comfort. I don't want cheap, but not the most expensive seats out there either; maybe my budget would be in the 2K+ max. range (2 seat) including brackets and hardware.

So, I'd appreciate any good ideas from you guys; I've seen some nice looking seats in some of the cars on this site and there are "many" out there on the market. I think I can get some great ideas right here so feel free to give me some names/models and any color ideas for the particular colors of my car that would look "hot"; links to them if you want. Thanks, Randy

Any of those brands would work fine, I have Sparco Monzas in my Z and factory Recaros in the Evo X. Both are very supportive. The most important part for me was that the seats provide more lumbar support. The factory z seats gave me lower back aches after driving for more than 20 minutes, was kind of forced to change them out.

Edit: I'm 5'10 @ 165 lbs and the seats fit snug, you might want to look into the Sparco XL models.

Thanks! Yeah my lower back gets stiff in the stock seats also. I'd want some lumbar support; possibly a reclining/adjustable model. Those Monzas look very cool; many good choices with Sparco and Recaro; I am likeing some of the Bride models also. There is now a Cusco/bride combined line out that looks great. Looked at some Seibon too.

Just make sure to get fia approved seats if safety is of concern to you. Look up Bride crash safety test on youtube. Many seats are not and will not survive an impact.

Mr.Sparco, are you satisfied with the lower back support with your seats in both cars? Do you like one over the other? There are some nice looking Sparco and Recaro seats; I'd be into more of the "Sport Tuning" type of seats as opposed to full race seats, so something sporty looking, safe and some pretty good comfort/support.

Sparco Milano
Recaro Speed
and for the big $$ Bride ergo. Cuga's are also nice.

Those would be your best bet if you're looking for a comfy, racing style seat.

I had a pair of Recaro SRDs and I loved them. The Recaro Speed replaced them and I plan on getting a pair when ever my funds allow it.

The Recaros feel almost exactly like the Sparcos with a bit more hip room. I just don't like how the Recaros don't have quick tilt like the Sparcos do, but in a sedan I guess that's unnecessary.

Any of the seats that recline will be your best bet. It'll give you additional support at the corners while maintaining ease of daily usage. Any of the bucket types are too deep for me and becomes a hassle getting in and out, especially on a lowered car.

Thanks! I've been looking today at the Sparco R505 street tuner seat, about $710 or so per, they recline which is what I would want as opposed to a "shell" racing seat. They also have a R333 street tuner for about $475; reclines also. I like the Recaro Profi xl, sport topline, but they are much more expensive. One other I looked at today that caught my interest is the Bride "Gias low max racing seat", reclines but is about $1,250.

I'm likeing the Sparco recliners more and more as far as quality for price. Their R505 offers a grey/black that would look cool in my car. I'll have to contact some sites and go over these models and if I'd fit comfortably; don't want a too small seat. any suggestions on one of these models? I'm not real tall, but fairly tall and wouldn't need the seats for like 38" waists, I'm a 34" in that dept.

I was looking on a site this p.m. about the mounting hardware, etc. and it said for Samco seats on a 350z that NO Samco seats can be used on a 350z that has side curtain air bags, which mine has.

I hadn't read one thing about this, nor does any of the sites that I've been searching on for a couple of days (even Samco's company site) mention anything about this in their individual seat info., just happened to come across this. Anybody know if my airbag setup on my stock seats will be an issue with me getting new seats installed, or was an issue with your's?

Most members just used a resistor on the seat harness. You'll have to do a search been several years since that question has come up.

Thanks guys for the info; I'll check into the wiring issue and see what some have done as far as using a resistor like Sparco mentioned.

Sofa King; those seats look good! I'll check them out also.

One question I have on all of these street sport type of seats (not racing/full bucket), can the seats "slide" forward/back at all or can they be removed and moved to a different setting (like with a different driver) or are they just considered "planted" according to settings for one driver only? Thanks.

Depends on the mounting brackets. Should be able to get either or.

Thanks^, when I get the seat models narrowed down I'll make sure to check out the mounting info. for that brand; I see that some have rails with what looks to be a pull bar that goes across the front of the mounting setup. Some look like a particular seat model basically bolts down to the brackets.

If you are looking for a street solution (your seats are not meant for the track)…

When the Z’s seat side bolsters wore entire through the fabric, it was time to do something. I don’t race my car, so the seat selection was reduced significantly. I needed a comfortable seat reasonably priced.

I looked at many seats, and really felt that the Z’s seat was more versatile and superior (other than the cheap OEM covering material which wore out). With this in mind, I decided to go with recovering and updating my original seats. The options include any material (fabric, leather, or suede) and color, and extras such as lumbar support.

You might want to check recovering your existing seats. The cost isn’t much less, but you get many choices that often make this solution a better solution.
