Default has SEIBON improved over the last couple years?

looking to get the HR ts hood for my '04. i have read a lot of threads about fitment, but they all seem to be years old.

have seibon improved or should i expect to have the same problems as others have had in the past?

thanks.

if all fails, what quality hood can i get that has vents? does not have to be CF.

if that fails, ill just get an oem hr hood.

I recently bought my seibon VT cf hood for an hr for my 04 like a year or 2 ago, it fit really good. My only complaint I would have is the gap between the headlights and the hood is almost non existent, its a problem for me because I wanted to run some eyelids but other than that the gap everywhere else is like oem.

I had a seibon gt on my 03 that I got in about 07 that fit pretty well. There was also a noticeable weight loss.

Stock hood is 22 lbs, Seibon's run about 18-22lbs depending on the style (more vent are the lightest at 18lbs)

I bought one for my HR back in '07. Fitment is great, although there were spots under the clear coat already when I got it. It weighed slightly more than my OEM hood, but that's not really an issue.

My understanding is that DE version of the TS hood is hit or miss while the HR version typically fits much better. I have the HR version sitting in my basement that I'm going to install this weekend so I can let you know how it fits.

As far as the hood pin question, I bought a set to install with it because I'm not interested in dealing with a smashed up hood, windshield, and roof.

Yeah, I would recommend hood pins on any carbon fiber hood. I've heard too many horror stories, one including a good friend of mine. Easy install and extra insurance.

Make your own vents and save yourself a boatload of cash

My HR TS is installed. Installation was simple; It was my understanding that the hood was mounted with bolts and nuts unlike the oem hood which had studs attached to it. My seibon hood had studs as well so I guess the newer ones are built this way which is nice. The fitment is 8/10. It's perfectly centered and the gap on either side is slightly wider than the factory hood. It's also a little short up front but overall not too bad. The latch height is perfect and the hood latched right up with no adjustments necessary. It feels secure and stable with no play at all when fully closed. I'll ask the body shop to adjust it however they can to close the front gap a bit when they remove it to clear coat it but the studs didn't have much clearance going into the bracket holes so I'm not sure if they'll be able to do much. Hood pins are next.
