Unhappy I need a trailer hitch for the Z!!!

Has anybody found a solution to being able to tow a small trailer with the Z??? I've got a track event coming up and I need to be able to bring extra sets of wheels/tires with me. It doesnt need to be anything fancy, just something to mount on the car that I can hook up to a small trailer, and remove (if needed) when I get to the track?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

I have two bits of advice.

1) Ignore all flames. Some people will assume you are insane for doing this. I say if it is for getting tires to the track it is a worthy cause.

2) Check out a company called "Hidden Hitch". When I put a hitch on my 1991 firebird it was a hidden hitch and it was awesome. It used a special flat draw bar for a low profile and better clearance. When the bar was removed and the cap put on yould barely tell it was there unless you were looking. I don't know if they make a kit for the Z, but I can attest to their quality and designs.

If you remove the passenger seat you can fit all 4 wheels/tires inside with you! I had to do this for the last event, only downside is you can't take people for ride

Another downside would be the mess. Tires are pretty dirty. I guess you could bag them all.

Thanks for all the suggestions, especially the tiretail, that seems great but they dont make one for the Z. The best thing I can think of that might work for me was to remove the passenger seat, only then my mechanic that I'm bringing with me would have to ride on the roof of the car, and with as fast as I drive, he might eat a few too many bugs!

I may try to get some area fabricators to try and make something for me...if I only had the right welding equipment....oh yeah, and the skills to know how to use one.....

It seems to be a lot of trouble, doesn't your mechanic or anyone else you know have a car you could use? You might even be able to get an old pickup or something for less than the cost of a trailer and the custom fabricating or special ordering you would need to get a hitch and install it.

I'm considering one of these dealies to haul race wheels/tires.

If you don't have a tow vehicle for your car AND your wheels then this is the best option. Who cares if it's ugly...I'm sure there are some itching to call it rice just cuz the opportunity came up. But you gotta do what you gotta do if you want to haul race slicks.
