However if you go with way 2 and your using white relfectors: one strip could be white (always on/off with parking lights) and the second strip could be amber (on/off with the blinker) - that would be pretty slick.

Way 2 sounds very good...but I wouldnt want the normal boring Leds. So for the 7 LED version, you could fit 7 side by 7?

Any thoughts of like a core type of thing wherein you would charge people for the reflectors but then refund that cost when people return their stock reflectors. Im beginning to be interested in the reflector LEDs be it EVo-Rs or Your's Ares but I would like the dual function thing and would like to have no time where the car would be without those two pieces.

Also, last question, would way #2 be more difficult to wire or simply wiring each set to the appropriate lights wire?

a big reason I had to figure out a way to do way 1 is that the luxeon LEDs in the 7led series that I assume you mean, will not fit side by side, they are a little fatter, and there isnt enough room. also at 200$ for the LED modifcation alone, I dont think anyone wanted to double that and pay 400$ plus cost of the reflector.

for 3 5mm LEDs, they are smaller and cheaper, so doubling the number isnt so bad.

if your thinking of 7 5mm LEDs, that can be done.

as for core swap, for stock amber reflectors that can be done. of course for any other color, it wouldnt be nescessary. as youd need a second set which Id work on, youd pull yours out when you put the new ones in. I dont offer buyback on the stock reflectors, just dont have a use for them.

wiring is slightly easier in the first method, in the aspect that theres 2 positives, which goes to parking and which goes to turn signals doesnt matter. way 2, same wiring, but each positive wire lights up a specific row of LEDs, and youd probably have a preference which is which.

And more to come. I like these. Definetly not bad for 20. I think of that as 4 whopper value meals only instead of fat you get a nifty little decoration. Looks stock almost which is definetly good

I have the exactly same LED sidemarker you mentioned. (Clear sidemarker with LED)
Got it from ares. 2 strips of LED's on each sidemarker. 1 for white LED/parking lights, 1 for amber LED/blinkers
Also, white LED goes off when I turn the signal on (amber blinks) used a relay.
16 LED's on each strip, totalling 32 LED per side. (16 white, 16 amber)
It'll be on sale in private classified section soon. (Bought another new LED sidemarker from ares)

It's in my avatar!
Here is the review of LED sidemarker I posted:

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....&highlight=LED

There was a slight problem on the sidemarker and I sent them back to ares and have them fixed. Will get them with my new LED sidemarker (another set) pretty soon and my old one will be on sale. All the detailed description in in that thread.

I had issues with the relay, and could not repair them. I wont be offering that function again Im afraid. the relays were generally a real pain for many reasons. the main problem being that it was killing the LEDs and I have no clue how or why.

he has 7luxeon reflectors on order, I was holding them while I tried to figure out what in the world was going on with the other set, but it was a lost cause so I refunded his purchase for them.

Can you make me a set of LED's that will flash really rapidly and display the TIME as I speed by onlookers on a drag strip or something...

you know... like those thingies at sharper image that go back and forth and have like 8 led's on them and display the time?

So, since you wont be offering the relays, what wont you be able to do anymore? Have 2 independent strings of LEDs?

no I can do independent strings. the sidemarker with the relay..

1 series was white
1 series was amber.

the white was wired to the parking lights, amber to the turn signals.

that was that, each went on with their corresponding source. I can still do this(though Ive developed a slightly less capable, but much more economical alternative)

with the relay however, when the amber went on, the white went off. this was so at night, when parking lights were on, the color would actually change from white to amber with the blinkers.

jason, Ill have to investigate that for you. should I also look into doing the same for the tail lights so if you win they say "you lose"?

Ares what would be the best way to get the look of the sidemarkers to be more like blurs of light as opposed to little dots where the LEDs are with all the light obviously coming from them?
