debadge trying something new, maybe?
So I debadge my car today, wanted something different then the Z that I see most people do. I ended up chopping the circle off the top and bottom of the emblem. Fixing the top part with jb weld. Once dry and hard, sand and then plasti dip. So once done it will be a rectangle emblem. Will post pics tomorrow.
Has anyone else done this?

Does nothing for me.
I'm proud I drive a Nissan so de-badging it is not something I would ever consider. Only reason my car is sans rear emblem... Two letters fell off.
Oh, just word of caution.... Mentioning "plastidip" around here wakes up the anti-ricers and raises their ire for disturbing their beauty sleep. Hahaha!

1969 camaro with LS3 w/ 6 speed out of a 2015 SScamaro. guess I could use some flat black paint if it would make people feel and sleep better at night.

On the dip..... I'm ambivalent to the stuff and have experimented with it on my non-Z just for kicks and for color sampling. Others tend to be a little judgmental, that's all.
Now here's something I find amusing. People here get riled up about the use of 'Dip. OK, fine. But here's what's odd.... Zs tend to be, uhhhh, "more vulnerable" to "rice abuse".... Yet, there's guys with threads that praise its use to the high heavens and show off pics of their 'Dip projects.... on the VOLVO forum.
If you figure that one out, let me know.... Ha!!

Lol, I understand useing it to paint you whole car and so on. But for a quick project to test fit or temp just to put it together so I am not driving around with half jb weld and sand papered chrome, I think it is fair to say that it works great. I will end up painting it, you cannot put color accents on plasti dip : paint the inside silver and so on. Plasti dip is cool to mess around with to see what something will look like but is not a perminint solution.
Well it still says Nissan, just without the ring.
Speaking of the whole car, do you know anyone on here that has vinyl wrapped their car themself? I know the price for a shop to do it is around $2k. I think I am savvy enough to complete but wanted to get so advice from someone that has done it. I have watched a few videos and read some post. But little inside tips would help.

Grrrrr anti dip approaching!!
Lol personally i am neutral with dip. My main problem with it is mostly the users. Dip is crap. Fact. It cheap. Fact. It cant be sanded and smooth out like paint. Fact. It is smooth like paint or wrap. Fact. Its ranked paint>wrap>dip.
I hate anyone who argues that dip is on the same level as wrap or that theyre just as good as paint.

I understand why most people would avoid dipping. It is a temporary application coating. That is all I would use it for, to see how something would look in flat paint and to use on tool handles. The sad thing most people that complain about dip don't even properly paint correctly in thr first place. They will talk trash on dip but bust out the rattle can and paint some parts. Lol, first off anything in a rattle can is a no no and not useing a good primer like a 2k primer will give you problems down the road.
Thanks, Micvelo.

Others know it better than I do, but wrapping isn't too hard. It will probably cost around $500. Just like paint there's an "art" to it, but as long as you do it right it will come out fine.

Done, jb weld sanded down with block, primer and wet sand then paint. Yes paint. Lol let dry all the way then double sided tape. Will post with it on the car.

Here is a side view. Had to fix the top. Where the top part of the circle was with jb weld. There was a V shape cut in the top of both N's in the emblem. I LOVE JB WELD!

Kudos for trying something different, but I'm not digging it. Agreed with Trav, looks like an out of place handle. To each their own though -- if you like it, that's all that matters.

Yeah, it looks kinda weird. I am going to try to mess with it some. Maybe it won't look as out of place with the lettering in silver. Or paint the whole thing silver?
