Default Transferring gaskets to CF hood

Just wondering, how many people have taken the time to drill and transfer the rubber donuts and front hood gasket over to their CF hood. I'm abut to install a hood on my car. And am looking at it, may take a bit of work, but I think it will be worth it.

Bump. I've been thinking about this as well. Just too lazy to do all that custom work.

If your hood is like mine, you should have 2 layers. The tricky part is piercing the firsr without damaging to the carbon fiber.

Honestly, i dont geel its worth it. I havent had problem with my hood yet. In fact i think without the gasket, it might even be better for air flow into the engine bay

Less hood lift and it's a gasket then is to help air flow the correct direction; thru the radiator. Probably going to start on it tonight if I have time.

let me know how it goes. i feel there an easier way to install the gasket if you want it than to drill holes

Years ago one of my other cars I installed it on the bumper instead right where the hood closed to, that way when the hood was closed it created the same seal as if mounted to the hood.

I used a universal seal meant for hoods. Held in place by 3m tape works great.

I was thinking about this or weatherstripping, may be easier with better results

I've had no issues with aftermarket hoods. Composites don't transfer heat well.

I was also thinking that if I used that or the foam version, a quick once a year swap of it is cheap and simple. Probably not needed with the stick on rubber version

So wouldn't this stuff work?

I mean, it seems to have some interesting automotive uses to close gaps and such...

...and custom work!!

I'm very sorry. Go ahead, report this post to a moderator. I deserve it.

Oh wait....

I've seen that foam used in composites prototyping.

my ING's hood already came witih predrilled holes for the OEM gaskets so i used them. if you 're not feeling the pain of drilling the holes by yourself just use the stuff mr. sparco mentioned....should be fine.

So after installing my gasket, i noticed the hood is slightly harder to close, and it opens with more force
