Default 03' Center Console Cup Holders

Hello All,

I'm brand new to the "Z" world just bought an 03' touring 60k miles. My question is I want cup holders in the center console. I have seen the adapter for the compartment but was looking at trying to fabricate something where the "coin holder/ash tray is" has anyone done this or have any pics of ideas.

Thanks

I've been looking for the same thing. The pop-out cup holder on the dash is flimsy and fails quickly. The Center "glove box" cup holders are to far rearward and almost useless.

Cup holders are good for uses other than a place to put your coffee. I use the center console cup holder in my Jeep to hold my smart phone when running navigation.

Other than swapping out the entire center waterfall and console to the '06-08 version (with the cup holders relocated up front), there's little else you can do. Never seen a custom center console (03-05) with a one-off cupholder installed.

^^ I haven't seen this either.

What about a way to hold your smart phone for navigation purposes?

I use one of these in my Volvo and it works fine.

I also have a number of interior camera mounts for my Z's, two of which are suction cup mounts for GoPro/SJ4000 cams but adaptable for cell phone.

I still use my '03's dash cupholder but rarely, if ever, use the console cupholders in my '08. Paranoid.....? I take it up in the hills with the mug in a plastic bag, jammed between the passenger seat and the door. Heh heh....

I think you could only use the ash tray position if you have an auto. A manual shifter would render that location useless.

My suggestion is to swap out the head unit (needs doing anyhow) with a single DIN unit, and stick something like this into the other position.

Not sure how sturdy this is, but I like the extra drawer - good for a phone. I would probably look for a vehicle that comes with something like this and buy the part though. Although it would be worth it to buy this and try, just to ensure you could still shift with a cup in it.
