Question about the side "Z" emblems

Is there anything behind them? I'm considering removing them to free the clutter.

2 holes. sorry, wont be removing them without some bondo.

also they are indented into the side of the car I think.

Damn...why does Nissan do this to all their emblems (except the "350Z")
