Default LED replace for HID in 2003 headlight

Hello all,

I'm a new owner and doing some simple modifications. I know the long term goal is to get to a 2006 headlight (from what I read), but right now I have new 03 headlights in. I have the headlights with the H7 halogen for high beam and HID for low.

I have changed out the high beam with a nice LED that work and looks nice. I do like the whiter lights (around 6000k) I was hoping to do the same with the low beams but am finding all kids of options out there but not sure if any are direct plug and play to replace the HID.

Any help or direction would be great if anyone has done this. Thank you in advance.

Larry

What you'll need would be a D2R LED bulb that would fit in the reflector projector socket for the OEM D2R HID bulb.

Don't waste your $. There is no aftermarket LED headlight "bulb" that will adequate illumination or maintain the proper beam pattern. Any advertising you see which promises otherwise, is pure BS.

I would agree. I have yet to see an aftermarket LED headlight bulb that outperforms HID.

So you're advice is to stay with HID for now until I do the 06 headlight upgrade?

That said the OPT7 Fluxbeam LED I put for my high beam is pretty awesome at night. Appreciate the advice Dean

I would suggest you stick to the 4500K or 5500K for light output.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm just not a huge fan of the yellow-ish tint I have seen I guess, That said 5500 should work.

I would stick with the OEM HID in your current setup until you get the 06+ headlights. Then, get the STI-R lens from TRS and you'll be set.

Just note not all 5,6 and 7k are created equal.

Every company has a different light output/color per their rating. Even more so on pictures, vs actual in person visual output.

So do your home work on which company has which color and output you seek.
