I think you mean the waterfall area of the IP on the first gen Z33 (03-05) models. I've never seen a DIY repair thread on how to repair that small door mechanism successfully.

Yeah it's an 06.
the centre pocket is fine, but the small spring loaded latch that holds it closed has popped out and I can't work out how to re-attach or if it is in fact broken.
any one come across this???

It's a shame you didn't respond to this thread sooner. I was in Perth two weeks ago and have a spare center console from an '08 that I would have brought over with me and just given you. Shipping from the US would probably cost more than the part, but I could have brought it over in my luggage.
It's an easy part to remove if you aren't worried about taking trim pieces off your dash. My guess is some cheap plastic part broke and the entire cubby will need to be replaced.
