Default Convertible repair

What's up guys. I have a 2006 350z Roadster. So my convertible top gets stuck 3/4 of the way down when I open it, and won't finish going into the storage compartment. Doing some research of my own I read that there are 2 elastic bands that connect to a support bar, above the heads of driver and passenger, to the frame. I read that these eventually lose their elasticity and cause the problem I'm having. So my questions here are: 1. Has anyone else here had this issue, and what did you do to fix it? 2. Any other possible causes? 3. If this is the problem, where would I find these elastic bands?

Thanks in advance!

Those "elastic bands" are part of the top cover itself. They are the wide, cloth loop that goes from around the middle bar on the top mechanism to the back of the top itself at the top of the rear window. The only way I know to "replace them" is to have a new top installed.

Mine are shot as well. Enough so, that if I put my hand between them and the top, I can hear tearing happening. They are sewn into the overall top.

I am looking to get my top replaced now. I was considering doing it myself but I think I'll let some Z specialists handle it. They are pricey but, I will be equally demanding as a high paying customer. It better be perfect or I'll keep coming back until it is. And, they better not scratch anything and all screws, parts, etc better be back in their original place and fit perfectly.

Fuuuuuuuuuu...I was hoping I didn't have to do that. Have you gotten any estimates for it? I've haven't looked too much since there aren't many places that specialize in convertibles.
