Rust Thread- I know..
Justification: Didn't want to revive a dinosaur.
It's finally happened. When cleaning the car last week I noticed 2 pencil eraser sized bubbles on the flat of the wheel well lip by the gas flap. Water gets into the gap between the QP and the gas cap area. The good is that I caught it early. The bad is that I cant not address this. I found an awesome how to that I'd like to try first since I have access to a paint gun. The other part is that after I remove the bubbles, I need to figure out how to get some structural support for the Bondo that's small enough to put in place. Part 3 is that I need to figure out how to arrest whatever other rust might be in that gap. I can try spraying a liberal amount of POR 15 in there but I cant access it enough to prep the inner surface.
The fail-safe here is taking it to a body shop to get the work done at significantly more expense. Until then this is a good opportunity to experiment and learn what can be done alone.
