Default Opening Z Taillights

Hello all. I have a set of HR taillights I'd like to take apart. I'm familiar with retrofitting taillights, however the Z's plastic welds are putting me off. Does anyone know where to start cutting? Do I cut around the seam, or do I go straight into the housing? Thank you for any info.

Since they're held together with a hard seal instead of the butyl rubber glue that is found on the headlights, I would try some seal dissolving liquid first before cutting them open.
