Is this possible on the 350? Sorry if this is a repost I have just never ever heard of anyone putting LED tails on a Z or anyone ever talking about them but they do look so nice... damn G35 people
Yes, clearcorners have them. The taillights have outstanding quality.

Thats not exactly like the g35 tails with individual dots are they? It doesn't seem it. I noticed the 3 stripes at the top but they don't look that much diff to me. Not for that much anyway. Is it just me? Their headlights are pretty damn sweet too tho.
i just bought some LED bulbs for the rear. It has the same "instant-on/instant-off" effect when you press the brakes which differentiates my car from the others (although not much, but something is something
)

But that's just like 1 bulb going on and off? Isn't that the same as a regular tail light bulb? Not like the G35C where when it lights up it looks like the barrels of a mini-gun... :P

LEDs do come on quicker, which not only is a safety advantage but there is some level of differentiation from incandescents based on the implications of this illumination.
I would agree though, that these really only stand out because of the LED strips on the upper corner, the main bulb doesn't look very outstanding.
As Ares has stated before, getting something like the G35C taillights on a Z would be prohibitive based on the cost of those little LEDs. I believe he once mentioned the cost of the taillights to be in the thousands for a pair!

as Ive found it; the G35 lights are like 2000 but now I cant remember; not so say ours are cheap at like 600 a set IIRC.
the LEDs really arent THAT expensive. I think the G35 uses like 15 or so per side; even at 10$ per LED; its not overly unreasonable price wise. but molding the proper optics would be a tad difficult.

Old thread, but I wanted to revive it, since all of the photos on your site are dead.

I'll be working on an LED replacement tail light setup for the S in a week or two. My intial price estimate puts it in the $400 range. For those who haven't seen the Ss tail lights before, each side consists of two circles... the outer circle is strictly brakes, the inner one is split into a top and bottom section, turn signal up top, reverse at bottom.
This price will include 4 PCBs of LEDs, 2 with red LEDs in concentric circles, 2 with half amber half white LEDs. I'm imagining the center section coming on immediately with the brake, and the circles quickly growing outwards.
If someone would mind snapping a closeup pic of the Zs tails so I can see their shape, I'll consider making something similar for you once the S is finished.

link for the Z tailights w/ led's installed from clearcorners.com ($715 for conversion, way too expensive, imo)

the Z light sits in a bowl of sorts; and from what I can see; there is little to no clearance between the housing and the metal bowl to fit any electronics. thus, to do any extensive work; it has to be extremely extensive and involve getting inside the housing for space.
how are you at a ship in a bottle?

I'm not a big fan of aftermarket taillights...but I couldn't help but wonder someone doing a photoshop of the s2k tailights and converting them into the z's.
The reason I came to that conclusion is my friend's s2k and my car were next to each other and I couldn't help but notice....
-the s2k tail lights are blacked out so it wouldn't stick out too much like those "ricey" after market lights.
-one of those lights(the s2k has three circles-the red one) in the z's tail light.
to conclude I think the circular light would match well with the exhaust.
One circle for both sides...like s2k.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

For the S, my mod will require the end of the light "funnel" to be chopped off... you won't be able to go back to stock after installing the LEDs, but I see no reason to. The LEDs will last longer than the car itself ever will. It's minor surgery that can be done by the end user with a simple Dremel or hack saw. Since it would be hidden from view, the cut doesn't need to be perfect at all.
I have no idea if the Z's tail will be similar, that's why I'm hoping for some pictures.

I saw these at SEMA, they won best new exterior accessory product. They are a direct replacement for your stock bulbs, and have 2 led's on the back side of each strip for reflection off of the housing. Very bright.
