Default Custom DIN plate with gauges mounted

OK, I had wadd3456 custom cut a DIN plate for me for my stereo. I'm mounting my Wideband A/F gauge into it and my homebuilt gauge for my J&S safeguard timing controller. This weekend, I'm going down to have the writing acid etched into the plate.

Please let me know what you think and any changes you think might be cool.

Keep in mind, this is a photoshop of my stereo, gauge and LEDS pasted into an actual scan of the DIN plate. That's why it looks kinda cheesy right now.

Honest opinions are appreciated, however keep in mind the plate is already cut for the gauges, stereo and LED's. So those can't be changed, however the etching onto the plate hasn't been done yet, awaiting comments from here.

I stuck mine in the compartment where the Nav screen usually is. I had no idea where else to put it. Maybe you could put it inside the coin holder somehow. Other than that, I don't know because it's a really ugly display.

Techedge will be coming out with an analog gauge based on the Nordskog A/F gauges eventually.

Hate to toot my own horn, but I'm the one that started that whole analog gauge thing and sent that gauge to Peter for testing and reverse engineering.

He gave me a free WBO2 for doing that. Speaking of which, I need to go on their website and get my free unit.

OK, changed the font and made it a little more minimalist. You're going to have to imagine the LED's, HU and display in this one.

Now which one??

I'll be mailing off my plate to a guy I know in Colorado Springs to have the laser/acid etching done tomorrow.

i'd suggest not spelling out timing retard etc...i think it'd look better if you used acronyms...like AFR and TR. people might misunderstand 'retard' lol.

Weird, I showed a printout of what I was planning to do to a buddy this morning and he mentioned the exact same thing.

Lookin good! Cant wait to see when its installed.

I whipped up a dual 2-1/16" guage holder for the nav compartment the other day too. It has switches under the guages too. I think they are for nitrous.....but Im not sure.

If you get finger smudges on it, just use a slightly damp rag and whipe with the brushed grain.

Keep us updated.

Default Got it back from being etched

Well, I got the plate back from the engraving shop. They did a top notch job. They got the look I wanted exactly. Here is an actual scan of the plate. It's hard to tell from the scan, but the black portion is actually cut into the metal just a tiny bit with a laser and then they put some chemical on it that oxidized the metal to turn it black. It is not paint and it won't wear off or fade.

Here is a closeup of some of the writing. The entire picture scan is enormous so I can't post a full size pic of the plate.
