I was wanting to hear from some of you guys who have the nismo replica made out of fiberglass. I believe that performance nissan sells em and i was kinda interested in getting the side skirts and maybe the rear. For you guys that have it, how was the fitment, thats the only thing im wondering about becuase im sure it looks just fine, i can never tell between replica and authentic. Thanx,

I'm getting the sides and rear from Performance Nissan. I'll give you guys my opinion hopefully in the next week.

So far, looks good just go my rear undies from Jason@performance, THICK fiberglass, very well made, smooth finish gel-coat. Looks like very minimal prep before paint. Just did a pre-fit does not look like there will be any fitment issues. Still deciding on sides tho...replica or Nismo.

I don't know if they have gotten better, mine was from Gruppe-S but I think they are all from the same source in Taiwan, but mine required some prepping before painting, even though it came "ready" for painting. The body shop sanded it down and found tons of voids that would have bubbled up during paint baking or after some time in the sun and heat. That was my second one, it has been 7-8 months and still looks good only got one bubble during paint baking on a pedestal, you might want to warn the shop to bake at a lower temperature.

My first one looked good after painting but started warping and even showing the fiberglass pattern after being installed for a couple of months, and mine sits in the garage most of the time.

I got mine off of EBAY for a winning bid of $135.00... Plus $65.00 shipping from Hong Kong. I JUST got it back from the body shop. The wing was very high quality and fitment was NEARLY perfect. It seems that the left wing "tip" was off by a QUARTER of an inch compared to the right wing "tip"

My high quality body shop actually shaved it to perfection. I paid $425.00 for Prep, Paint, Install, but again, this was from a very high quality body shop. I could have paid less at a different shop, but didn't trust them with my baby...

IF the REAL DEAL wasn't so OVERPRICED I might be able to afford it. As it stands, I got a Replica wing, Prepped, Painted, and Installed, for less than the cost of JUST the NISMO wing itself.

 

Plus the US Spec factory stuff isn't out yet...... BUT, as Nissan say's... it will be out next month... oh, we mean next month in 6 months. We have been told next month since October of last year!!!!!

 

Where can you purchase the 'Real' nismo kit? whats the cost of the pieces, cause I only want the front bumper.. also, how different can teh quality be in the replica kit?

 

Last time I checked, the Nismo real deal was going to cost around $2,500, that is even toooooo rich for my blood. I even used replica wing for my Infiniti G3 sport coupe wing, Inifiniti wanted $500 for unpainted wing, Replica wing was $250 which included third brake light kit, I have no problem with replica companies as long as quality is good.

 

I just read in a mag that Nissan is having a hard time because the feds require body kits that are made out of the USA to have a different build process, and Nissan is trying to get thier stuff approved. Sounds weird to me, but you know how the gov can be

 

2,500 for the complete kit? Thats madness. lol Can you get just the front bump, cause thats all I really want.

 

Aren't the authentic Nismo kits made of some sort of fiberglass anyway?
