i can't believe you guys are flaming his car! he's got veilside, raceline, cobra and other stuff that is all respectable. what have you guys got? (not that ive done anything major myself) so what if you dont like his paint scheme but that doesn't in any way decrease "performance, ability, and a track record second to none" so based on what you're saying you can't claim his car to be "rice", unless then of course you're calling veilside, raceline or cobra "rice".

the Z is about car enthusiasm, and customizing the car is a primary way to show enthusiasm. i personall think thackattk is doing a great job for his intended goal of making a show car.

good job with the car thackattk. once you get that super charger i might have to take a road trip to largo.

Just because youve got respectable brands doesnt mean your **** cant be rice. Ive got practically nothing compared to him but at least I know Ill be putting my money where it should be.. under the hood. How does the paint scheme increase "performance, ability, and a track record second to none?" IT DOESNT, therefore to me its $10,000 down the drain.

Why is it that as soon as anyone does something different it gets branded RICE? I've always assumed RICE was overdoing things and making the car look "tacky". There's nothing tacky about the car, the thing looks mean, it looks like a barely street legal race car, and most important of all, it's F@#$ing cool!

Does your car have a stereo in it? Does it have A/C? Do they increase performance, ability, and a track record second to none? Those are doing nothing for the performance of the car. Is it rice? I bet you don't remove those two items to save weight and increase performance. You could probably remove your headliner, your door panels, your carpet, most of the plastic in your interior, none of that stuff increases performance. You could even sell most of those items and buy more performance stuff.
When you take it off, there are a couple of pieces I need, I'll give you a fair price plus shipping.
I bet you'd take a free paint job, in whatever color you wanted, if it was offered.
One question for you....Do you street race? Just curious.

A stereo and AC comes with the car therefore I did not spend 10,000 dollars on it. You cant compare these to the things that youve spent your money on. I never said removing **** from the interior increases performance, quit putting **** in my mouth. I also didnt say I took **** out of my car so no, I will not be selling **** to you. Again, quit putting **** in my mouth.
Oh and to answer your question.. no, I do not street race. Dumbass. Try coming up with better comments instead of ignorant ones

Man, some of you seriously need to get a life. There are some really bitter people on this forum. If you don't like the man's car, keep your negative thoughts to yourself. There's no place for that here. Expressing a difference of opinion is ok, but being belligerent and rude is uncalled for. We're all car enthusiasts (some moreso than others) but more importantly we're all adults, not a bunch of little kids. Everybody has different tastes and opinions, it's called being human. But don't go bashing the man's ride just because his tastes don't agree with yours.

Props to thackattk for taking the high road, for not retaliating with insults of his own, and for taking all this crap like a man. And btw, your car is amazing. Period.

I appreciate that. It is difficult to keep your mouth shut, but then I realize it's just not worth arguing about. It's supposed to be fun.

definition of RICE??

Well, like the owner said, he has a color that is the what he claims is "ferarri" yellow (I think meaning that the color is NOT "rice"). Which I agree with.

BUT, I like to take that thinking ALL the way!!! Do 360 Modena's have huge wings, Lambo Doors, carbon hoods, Chrome wheels, shaved handles, etc????? HELL NO!!!!!!!

I respect the car as far as a show car, but I would never trade my car for in, no way. But that is just my opinion, its all a matter of opinion, but I think the owner has a point, people don't have to be jerk offs just because it is NOT thier taste.

I really think you need to see the car in person to appreciate it. I saw his car at SEMA and the work is incredible.

At the same booth with his car was a McLaren F1. If you don't know anything about the McLaren F1 then you might do a little research. The bottom line is that it is one of the rarest cars in the world - I believe there are a total of seven in the United States at this time. That said, the crowd was not gathered around the McLaren, the crowd was gathered around his car. I passed the booth and his car at least three times and each time I heard nothing but praise for it. And BTW, you don't ask to have your car displayed at SEMA, you are invited to attend.

Now, as far as the car having "huge wings, Lambo Doors, carbon hoods, Chrome wheels, shaved handles, etc" take a look at the picture below of the McLaren (you can even see his yellow car in the background). Hmmm, let's see Lambo Doors, yes. Carbon hood (you can see it but it is Carbon Fiber) yes. Chrome Wheels (picture doesn't lie) yes. Shaved handles (you can't see it, but it doesn't have door handles) Yes. As far as the "huge wings", this car did not have one, but the link below the picture of the McLaren does have a picture of a McLaren with a "huge" wing. BTW rodH, don't take this the wrong way, I just thought it was pretty funny that just about everything you mentioned, was on this high end exotic car.

Finally, visualx, you obviously subscribe to the "mediocrity abounds" way of life and I guess if that works for you, then great. I sincerely doubt it, but at some point you may actually post something that actually contributes to this board. Until you do, please STFU and go be a troll somewhere else! Thanks.

Anyone2u,

We will just have to agree to disagree. Yes I am very very familiar with the McLaren (McLaren owners would ABSOLUTELY freak if they saw a real F1 with CHROME WHEELS). I will tell you a little story, I have a friend that moved from Germany (was a mechanic for BMW for a time) to the US, he says to me "what is it with all these americans driving around with chrome rims, it is like they are trying to make all thier cars look like an old cadillac". He went on to tell me how euros and americans do thier cars so differently. Oddly enough I seem to agree with him more than I do the americans view. Oh, well.

btw, here is a lil pic for you. Look around at the cars and see what you find. Pretty nice stuff.

btw, I imagine that not many people know what a mclaren is at a US autoshow (sema is NOT tailored for that crowd). I have been to those shows as well as the bottom floor of the LA autoshow (aftermarket area) and to be honest Sprewell racing gets more attention than Brabus which is always right next to it and CEC wheels booth just down the hall, ferarri and lambo booths just up stairs and the Aston booth just down from there. I guess if more people are into chrome rims and DVD players in the back seat than Ferarri, fine by me, it doesn't mean that I have to like it.

So in your opinion, since what you witnessed that more people were looking at the Z than the McLaren, what does that tell you about the average car fan at SEMA???? (I am a HUGE Z fan, but even I can admit that teh PERFECT Z is still NO match for an F1).

What, the Porsche Cayenne coming the other way??? Actually that is a great picture and is now on my desktop. I would be willing to bet that that is the same McLaren as the one in the picture I posted. And just for the record, I am not a fan of chrome rims, but that is just my opinion and it serves no purpose in beratting someone because they are on their car. If I recall, I'm pretty sure the tires and rims were given to him and when a sponsor gives you something you have an obligation to that sponsor.

First, SEMA is a "tradeshow" for people in the automotive aftermarket industry and it is not really open to the public (ie "average car fan"). Yes, there were people there (like myself) who treated it as a car show, but that is not it's purpose. It's purpose is for "manufacturers" to showcase their products for the upcoming year, and in order to draw attention to their products, they have to offer something a little different than what they can see on the street. As weird as it sounds, after walking around for a few hours you almost get tired of seeing "close to stock" Ferraris, Porsches, and the like because there are so many of them.

As far as the McLaren, personally I spent more time looking at it than I did Thackattk's car (sorry). This car was built to be the greatest road car ever made, is probably the rarest "street car" ever produced and I never actually thought I would get to see one in person. It was a thing of beauty and that is the reason I returned three times to the Nitto booth!

Roger(Anyone2U), there are at least two McLaren F1's in your area owned by some guy in Amesbury, MA.. He's a BMW tuner..

Small world, eh?

As for thackattk's car, he's taking a lot of abuse and being a good sport about it.. I admire that..

Mike - My guess is that most of what you are getting is jealousy.

These guys look at mags and search the web all day wishing they could afford to buy this and make their car into their altimate Z. The truth is they can't. I say this because if you look at the forums they start you see how excited they are to get their front lip, wheels, and silly headlight evrlays (that noone notices). They are probably saying to themselves “If I had that money I would buy this …. And he is stupid for buying that…” This is plain and simple jealousy.

If you look at their Zs there is no way to differentiate them from any other of the thousands of Zs on the road right now. The same cannot be said about your z. Your Z reflects your personal style.

Rodh and visualx - you both have what could be considered by many as boring colors (white and silver). So it is not insane to imagine your taste might differ from others that might paint their car yellow, gold, or even Nissan’s own PIMP ORANGE!!!

If you bash Mikes paint color then you should bash every Sunset orange or maybe even the daytona blue.

The point is that individuality is a good thing and letting envy etc. push you to flaming just to flame is just childish.

RodH -- how would you feel if in your thread “new pics of my Z with iForged wheels, Hotchkis springs, etc.” people bashed you for having red lug nuts on your car. Or how about bashing you for being so excited but noone can even tell what you have done over stock. IE – “you know.... honestly if I just saw your car i would think it was still stock with just a lip and rims... I guess if I mod a car I need more noticeble changes... but thats just me.”

Perfect example of how taste differ from person to person. The difference between your post and a sensible post is that you disrespected Mike while offering your opinion. Next time offer your opinion but maybe leave the bashing out.

Keep us posted on your progress Mike. I will be posting my pics soon and can't imagine I will take the criticsm as well as you have.
