Are you on CRACK? Why would you do this to a sports car?????? unless you are driving a wreck for racing then I could understand, not that my opinion or anyone elses matters but really, why?

Are they long grain or short grain rice pins.. I mean hood pins?

If you are putting these on the stock hood, please dont. If you got an aftermarkey CF hood, you may need them cause the latches tend to be shotty. And yes, do not remove the latch if you install hood pins!

I still don't understand why ppl put CF hoods on the Z. The hood is made of Al and is extremely light weight

Probably the same reason people put LED Side markers, 35% Tint, and JDM Horns on their Z. They like the look, sound etc.

I've been watching the Z forums for a while now...they all started pretty cool, but as time goes by, I notice more and more people start having some pretty strong "opinions" that they MUST share with others. When I first got my Z I was pretty impressed with the forums too, that they didn't come with all the extra drama that the civic forums had. Oh well....was cool while it lasted.

Wow, you two are touchy. Sheesh.

If you need hood pins, they arent rice. You didnt mention in your post about the CF hood.

Also, this forum is by far the best one out there. If you post on a public forum, expect opinions. So dont get all bent out of shape.

Anyway, I have seen some people install pins using some paint to mark the inside of the hood where it needs to be drilled. As you set the hood down, the paint will mark it and you can be sure they are placed in the right spot. Depending on your style hood, measuring may or may not be easy. Some body shops will prolly do it too.

i had a friend at a local speed shop install mine. not a DIY if you asked me! i helped him but it was a rather long job. 2hrs or so. im using the sparcos as well. yes i still use the stock latch as well. i just installed the pins so there is NO CHANCE for the hood to come off the latch. if you go back to like page 5-6-7????? there ara a bunch of pics there in the "seibon hood on the recaro Z" thread. if you MUST do this yourself, ill give you more details on how we/HE did it! we didnt use any paint though, we set tape on top the pins then lowered the hood onto the tape. same ida though. i dont think its rice at all to not want your hood to fly off while driving!! i wouldnt use a c/f hood without them! even thought mine uses the stock latch as well. and as far as why anyone would use a c/f hood on our car.......i just loved the vented hood. the c/f was soo perfect, i didnt want to cover it up with paint!! that and c/f on ppw is SWEET!!!!!!! but some people just dont care for it! each his own right?

since the hood itself is c/f, and the latch bonded to the c/f hood is metal, there is a chance that it could one day seperate swinning the hood up/back into your windshield while your driving! NOT PRETTY!!!

is there any other way of keeping the hood down? something the mounts flush? something that isnt so bright and metalic? i dont know what im talking about.

its already hard enough having to deal with people wanting to race. with the hood pins on there, everyone and their mother will want to race.

are there such things as low-profile hood pins or "stealth" hood pins?

Yep, I had low profile ones on my old mustang. They were flush with the hood and used a key to turn them to unlatch them. I am not sure the brand or anything, but they do exist. I also liked the fact they actually locked down my hood. No chance of it flying up, as it once did. POS. Anyway, I am sure a search on ebay or the web will yeild some results. and trust me, the low pro ones look nice, could even paint em black for stealth.
