Default Black Taillights

I was interrested is having my taillights black. I have seen a Z with black ones, but I do not want to get blackouts. I have heard someone say something about tinting them. Is tint a good way of doing this? Would it not bubble up, peel, etc? Does anyone know a way to make this happen? Thanks.

you should check out the vinyl overlays made by member bluebatmobile.

all of the smoked tail lights that weren't painted are probably using his vinyls.

his website is www.bluebatmobile.com

I've got my set sitting on my desk waiting for install

Hey Rajiv, are these overlays similar to the little sticker things you get when you get your oil changed? Are they as easy to install as sticking them on using soapy water? I am to assume that they just peel off as well.

You guys don't get stopped by the cops with the tail lights covered? I like them, and the only reason that I have not picked them up is because I don't feel like getting hassled by the cops.

The red reflectors are quite visible with my Overlays. That's the important thing. Plus, the light shines through just fine.

Yea they are like those stickers for oil changes. And yes installing with the soapy water is the way to go, though supposedly it's a bit tough getting the rear light overlays on because of the curve/shape or something. I'll know why this weekend .
And yes they can be pealed off (though I think with a bit of effort as to not be easily worn off).

bens z - you're car looks real good. where in south florida are you?

owali - yup im a gator...and about to go take a final right now

the overlays will be on the car when i get home from school (on friday or saturday) and i'll be sure to post pics.
about the shades...i think that there are different shades. i know he uses different shades for the headlights and ive seen different shades on the rear bumper reflectors so i'd imagine u can get different shades for the taillights also....i just said darkest he had.

off to my final...

Go Gators!

I've used standard static cling window tint in the past with great results, although I admit having a pre-cut piece makes life 10 times easier.

My standard tint is a 6 out of 10 on darkness. I have a lighter tint, which is only about a 3.
