By the way, i bought the mirrors through the distributor, the rep showed me these mirrors when i was in vegas for SEMA back in november. Saw them off thecar and thought they would've looke dmuch better on the car than they actually do.

I question the weights you picked, 3-5lbs for the housing? I would buy that if you said that included the loss of motor weight, and maybe smaller mirror peice.

but theres no way that housing weighs more than 1lb, the plastic alone I mean.

so in that case, why not just remove the power components to lose that weight?

for the real answer, I think they all look silly. too small, and I bet visibility sucks as well. and it comes down to a 2-3lb savings for hundreds of dollars(more if you go all custom)

The visibility isn't any worse than stock, and have you ever takien the stock mirrors off? They weigh atleast 10 lbs. combined, these full carbon fiber ones weigh maybe 3 lbs. combined.

if you don't like em, that's fine, I said myself that i didn't even like em that much

but 6 of that 7 lbs lost is likely in the electronics that are in them. why not remove that and keep the same housing and mirror, the modification would be just the cost of whatever bracket you rig to hold the mirror in place without the motors.

"whatever bracket you rig to hold the mirror in place without the motors."??

What do you mean by that? The motor doesn't hold the mirror anyway. And I obviously didn't want the original housing.

Look, if you don't like it, then fine. I'm definitly not here to please you or anyone else on this board. Don't waste your time argueing with me over a couple of pounds.

If I ever want any fancy LEDs for my lights or dash, I'll come to you

I don't think Ares is attacking you or your mirrors. I think he is simply suggesting to vlad that he remove the electronic components from his stock mirrors to save weight instead of buying new mirrors... if you like your mirrors, that is all that counts.

your taking this way too personal man. I was more debating the weight saving aspect of this, not the appearance. I dont debate cosmetic appearances, thats a personal opinion.

ares, I appologize if you feel that i made a personal attack on you, i was serious about the LEDs. I just don't see the piont in sqaubling over a couple pounds and how i choose to spend my money or how i choose to modify my car. To me that's an attack on my personal opinion.

Stock mirror together with triangle piece weights 2 lbs 2 oz. I just weighted it on office precize post scales... With good carbon fiber ones thats 4 lbs off for 2. Not very efficient dollar/pound... But still will look cool I guess.
