Stock appearing or with rivets you think? I mean, I could probably handle black rivets in a black framng band, but being able to use the stock seal would be awesome.

In response to total weight savings. With Carbon and Lexan, I would say you are looking at, and this is an estimate, a total of probably 80 pounds. Glass is rather heavy and I am willing to bet ours weighs about 40-50 pounds. If I get more info on this carbon hatch and get my hands on one I can assure you all I will be doing the lexan rear and making it to look as stock as possible. Now I just need the damn hatch =). Yummmm, 3,000 pound Z.

I want lighter windows that will still function like stock and look like stock (and scratch-resistant). BTW, maybe we can persuade ViS Racing to make a carbon fiber hatch for the Z, any thoughts???

How? Everybody seems to be interested in cf hoods only. With weight savings of 3-5 lbs. Stupid but fact.

Very true. Vlad, do you know how much the Amuse CF doors weigh? How much weight would be saved by switching over to lexan side windows, no electric windows, and no inner door panels (just CF)?

I've heard that the rear hatch is weighted to help you close it. Will it be an issue to close the hatch if it is so light?

It might be, but I can live with it, if you can't then replacing the struts should fix it I think.

There is another thread about weight savings:
https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=67112

cf doors will dramatically decrease safety. If you don't have a cage, I wouldn't recommend compromise safety over weight savings.

Lexan side windows will save some weight for sure, I never saw data on how much side windows weight.

no motors will sure save 3-4 pounds each. I'd get stock manual window "option" if possible, but I don't want to convert to manual... Not worth it.

Side mirror weights 2.2 lbs. So cf mirror will shave 2 lbs each

No inner door panels will significantly lower comfort. Again not good for a daily driver.

For myself I'm trying to do things that will keep comfort level and safety at were they are now.

Check my writeup on dry cell battery installation:
https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=73152

Other considerable weight savings:

Lightwieght wheels
Ti exhaust
Cf headlights
Cf fenders
Cf lightweight seats
No or lightweight spare wheel
Cf rotors (this one will probably match the price of the car ;-)

Unfortunately most of those options are pricey...

Right now I have an issue opening it! Changing struts for smaller ones will be probably necessary with cf. Not big deal
