Going to remove trunk emblem. Need some solvent to remove 3M permanent adhesive that won't effect paint. Contacted 3M no reply.

be carful with goof-off near any interior plastic. it melts it pretty badly. worked at a car wash for 2 1/2 years, and we ended up going to simple green for stains and stuff, because goof off was just eating interior plastic away

NO nee to use Goo gone or any adhesive remover just use a blown dryer to heat up the emblem then use a floss(sp?) to remove the emblem or if you're real careful you can use flat head screwdriver wrap in cotton shirt.the technique is to heat up the emblem.

I misunderstood, you weren't clear enough, I thought you had already taken the emblem off and was looking to get the adhesive off. Yes, like stated, heat it up with a blow dryer and use dental floss to remove it.

I used fishing line and a blow dryer to remove the emblem, then used this stuff called goo gone to remove the adhesive. it is a citrus based remover, and didn't hurt the paint. Then I used rubbing alcohol to completely clean the surface before I attached the new emblem. Worked out great. If you order the Z emblems from courtesy, ask them to send you the 3m adhesive backings, they are a lot better
