I've also been contemplating tinting my SS but don't want to remove the door panels. My 04Z is only a few months old with no rattles and based on my prior experience with my 03Z, once the door panels come off, no matter how careful you are, they never feel as solid as before.

Perhaps later on when my doors start rattling or I change my speakers I'll the tints done.

If removing the door panels is not a big concern for you then go for it. The SS looks great with 20% all around. It certainly does keep the car cool during those hot summer days and helps protect the interior.

Has anyone had their tints done without removing the door panels? Can you see the outline?

I was a little reserved at first but had a shop do my car and they seemed really knowledgeable about the 350z's window lowering mechanism. They never dissassembled the door panels. They just used some type of tool to carefully slip the tint down inside the door.

Blue tint: This stuff is nice but it looks like it only blocks U.V. rays. I wouldn't expect to get much shade or trunk privacy from it.

it is not necessary to remove the door panels to tint the Z. And it can be done without leaving a gap. Just make sure you let the person who is doing the tint job know about the auto-down windows and the button on the side of the door that lifts them up.

Also, my door panels have been off more than once now and I still don't have any rattles from them. Just try not to break any pins and if you do make sure you replace them.

Thanks for the FYI. Looks like my SS will be getting some shades soon.

Anyone know of any good shops in the NYC region that have experience tinting Z's????

i never knew that. is it the window button?

Yea there is a button on the side of the car (opposite of the side of the door when it would be closed) that you can push in and makes the car think the door is closed so the window goes up. It's by the sticker that tells you the VIN and production date. Just look around and you'll find the button.

My passenger window also started peeling after i got my car tinted but that's because my car had constant usage after it was tinted so the window was going up and down a lot. Lucky for me I can get it retinted for pretty much nothing where I work now (since im too lazy to get it fixed where i originally got it tinted).
