Default I've been striped!

So I'll probably get lots of crap for this post, but I think it looks sweet! I'll have a full writeup later this week on this project, but here's the photo album for now.

http://www.solo2.org/gallery/albums/7.aspx

I've got to replace the rear badge, removed it to stripe. Also need to redo the front bumper and rear bumper, first stripe install I learned quite a bit about what and what not to do.

What do you guys think?

I don't like it too much. If there were two instead, I would like it.

Maybe two stripes would look better. But its nice, it makes it look more like a race car.

I like it....very retro. That color is perfect for the white stripe. I wonder what would look good on my Le Mans?

Black? Silver?

Maybe some ghost flames are in order!

It would be pretty easy for your to split that white stripe into two with a blue down the middle. But it looks good the way it is.

Thanks for the input guys. I may try two at some point. This install was fairly simple because it was a single sheet of 14" white vinyl. I can imagine that laying two stripes would be a lot more complex, trying to get two lines straight as opposed to just one.

That's not to say I won't try it sometime though.

christoc, personally i think 2 stripes would look better, but it doesnt look bad.

gringott, ghosting is when you paint a design , flames for example, with a pearl paint. when you look from a certain angle, you dont see anything. when you look from another, you can see the flames. very subtle.

japanese cars look better when done with japanese style. putting a stripe down your car is like painting your roof white and calling it a mini cooper.

Ghost flames on an orange car like the Z might look pretty cool. Basically it's just the outline of the classic flames you see on the old hotrods...and like stated above, they're hard to see except for the right angle. Very subtle, and definitely trick. Would be good on a show car.

Something to think about if you want to be different...

I love the racing stripe, very original. I agree with the others that two would look better, have you thought of maybe using one very wide sheet of vinyl, pre- cutting the middle out but not cutting all the way through. That way you can install one peice of vinyl and peel off the middle section leaving two racing stripes. Not sure if I explained that clearly or if it would even work but figured i would post anyways.

Well...

The width just seems off (like it's too big or too small), and a 14" white stripe down the middle isn't my cup of tea. I really, really do not like it, *however* what is important is that *you* like it. Certainly different.

Everyday when I drive home from work I pass a white Z with a red stripe down the middle, that combination looked so good I'm considering the stripe. What color would look good on MY silver z?

I think it looks great, I like the one fat stripe instead of two. The color combination works great. Congrats on doing something different, fortunately for you this is one of those times where different is a good thing. Thats just my opinion.

As far as stripes on a silver Z I can't really think of any that would look that good, but then again the only color combination that I think stripes work on is Christoc's car. Still I'd like to see pics of others including the 2 stripe deal.

I think it makes a bold statement. As DrVolkl said, it does look retro. Not a bad thing. Reminds me of some of the muscle cars of the late 60's/early 70's that I loved (like the dual rally stripes on some Chevelles or Camaros, or as mentioned previously, the Cobra). I did the same to my '68 Cougar XR7/GT (2 wide stripes with pinstripe along the edges). I think it looks nice and fresh on the Z. Props to you for being gutsy enough to do it.
