Default Who has the Lambo door kit?

I was just curious if any of have any personal or third hand knowledge of these vertical door kits. (the stuff they dont tell you on the websites)
1) How strong are the shocks used to lift the door, i.e. do you just start to tug up, and the shock takes care of the rest or do you have to basically lift it yourself and the shock just "holds" it?
2) Every kit Ive seen says bolt on install, EXCEPT that the fenders need to be rolled, WTF does that mean, and how much would a body shop charge for that?
3) In all the pictures I seewith the door up, it looks like it would be pretty hard to get in and out because the lower portion of the door is in your way, is that an illusion or probably true?
4) Any idea which kit is the best quality, or best for the $$$ ?
blah.gif Sorry this is so long, just thinking about this kit, but I wanna know what Im getting myself into first. Thanks!!

I haven't done a ton of research on this but I'm way interested in this also. Your questions are great and I can't wait to hear the answers for them.

I do know that you have to take the fenders off to install the hinges. Rolling the fenders means theres a peice on the inside of the fender that needs to be rolled or you can also cut it out. Otherwise, the hinge hits it on the way up.

I put the lambo doors on my z a few weeks ago. I used the Vertical Doors Kit and they said that it was all bolt on and the fenders had to be rooled or cut. If u dont cut the fender or roll it the door will hit as it goes up. I did this with one of my friends. It took us about 5 nights. Putting the hinges on is no problem after u get the front fenders off, but all of the time is in shimming the hinges out to line up the doors with the fender and then u have to get all the gaps on the doors to be even. With the kit that i used the only part that is a pain in the *** is when u open the door it has a tendency to want to pop up because of the shock. But once it opens its really easy to get the door up, the shock does all the work.

Has anyone tried out the AutoLoc kit??? They have two of them... a manual and powered kit. I'm more interested in the powered kit. Since I hate the damn door handles I want to shave them and make the doors power. I can get all the parts at wholesale but I'm not sure the quality of the actuators and hinges of the AutoLoc kit.

Realistically if i were to do it for someone i would charge at least a grand but im not going to, i would guess it would be close to that only because i know what kind of work has to be done and the amount of time involved.

The only issue I have with the kit is you can't close the door on its own. It needs to be guided all the way shut. The shocks are too strong.

Okay but when you open the door vertically is the shock SO strong that it starts to push the door up by itself or do you get it started and it takes over? Aslo when you want it to come down how much resistance is there, ie could your 110lb girlfriend close it herself from the inside? (not that I dont always open and close the door for her....he he)

I have the Decah kit, and I don't have the closing issues. For me, opening and closing is the same as the stock hinge, with the exception of it not coming out as far, and the fact that it can go up!

My vdc kit opens much further than decah. The closing isnt really a big problem, my girlfriend can close it just fine. I open the door and the shock does all the work all the way up. Just need to give it a little push so its pretty easy.
