Unhappy Tail Light Overlay blues

I couldn't get them on bubble free for the life of me....they just looked like crap with all the bubbles...I'm sad. I even tried poking them with pin and flattening...but no love. I just ripped them off. I either have to live with non-tinted lights or get them sprayed instead.

I'm not even attempting the headlights.

Bat's overlays can be a bit difficult to apply. I too had bubbles in my tail lights, I just removed those ones. The rest came out great, though.

i got the ones from Performance Nissan...maybe since they're thicker...they are harder to apply?

It wasn't just a few bubbles...just looking at it in certain angles just looked terrible...i have no patience...lol.

i agree... i tried twice with bats headlight overlays and both times looked like dog crap.

Just got Performance Nissan's over lays and 10 min later they were perfect. they were easier to work with and look 10,000,000 times better.

thanks Jason.

Ahhhh... okay my bad. Did you apply them wet or dry? I tried both methods (I had smoked performance overlays before the yellow tints) and I found that doing them dry is MUCH easier. Also, DO NOT poke holes in the bubbles. They WILL go away after about a week.

I did it dry...but just looking at the whole thing...it wasn't really smooth...a lot of bubbles all over it. You have to kinda stretch it if its not aligned right by the time you get to the other end of the tail light...i should have taken a pic. Maybe ill try again. I'd hate to waste the money i spent on them.

I'm assuming they are still on your car? If you're satisfied with the alignment but have lots of bubbles, don't worry. I had so many bubbles in my yellow overlays after install, but they all went away in about a week. Just keep your Z in the sun for a couple of days. You should notice an improvement by then

should have done it with soap/water...much easier. the bubbles in my taillights were gone after a week or two also. i used www.lamin-x.com for my overlays, and they were much thicker than bat's overlays. the pre-cut kit was very easy to install. make sure you have soap/water and a hairdryer, then park it in the sun during the day for about a week. it will get out the bubbles.

The heat from the sun cause the air bubbles to expand and the overlay itself to soften, letting out the air underneath...

damn it...and I ripped it off cuz i was pissed but didn't tear it or anything...I'll try again next weekend.

Thanks for the tip guys. I may try the soap and water method...atleast that way you can slide it around....but don't you need to stretch it a little to totally fit the light cuz I find that it doesn't cover the whole light unless you stretch while you apply it.
