I'd appreciate any help or pics showing the seem in more detail at the edges of the wing and the rear hatch.

If you look how the wing lays on the trunk my guess and the same goes for the bodyshop guy in thinking the sanding need to be behind the light so the middle of the wing is kinda rounded to match the trunk.
okay, went over to the body shop that was doing the work on my car today. They had the car all week painting and installing my Stillen hood. The G35 spoiler I ordered off of e-bay for $165 painted silverstone came in tuesday night and was dropped of Wednesday for the body shop to install. On Wednesday I got a call from the shop letting be know that there was a problem with the spoiler fitting the hatch area. I called the company in Canada today that distributes these and spoke with Ron. This is the same company that sold the G35 fin to Brickyard guy we first saw pictures of. The Canadian company received a picture of the brickyard Z with the spoiler and used that for the e-bay 350Z ad. When i spoke to Ron today he didn't realize there was a problem. He just assumed that since it worked for the brickyard Z everything was fine. He took the G35 fin over to a Nissan dealer I guess to check the fitting and realized that there was a problem after he got my e-mail yesterday. At this point he said he would gladly take back my spoiler and I guess everyone elses. He said he had sold about 5 this week but after finding out about the fitment problem said he stopped shipment on one going out today. Ron by the way was a really nice guy and seems to sell really good products (except for this one).
So back to my story. I also talked to the orange county shop that did the black Z. Basically he said that no sanding is required and that you have to use thicker gasket material and tighten down the bolts n the ends of the spoiler to minimize the gap. Armed with that information I thought I would just take a chance and have it installed. I went over to my autobody shop and took a look at the problem. I know that the gap would certainly be more noticeable on silverstone than black but still decided to push ahead. The body shop guys were very helpful. They drilled the two end holes in the hatch. they used a thick black double stick tape to build up the base on the ends a little more. They tightened the sides as much as they could. The front of the middle section of the spoiler where it contacts the rear hatch bowed out a small amount. they finished the install by laying a small black bead of filler around the gap at the sides of the spoiler. The built-in brake light really makes it look like the OEM
spoiler the Z SHOULD have come with.
Now that it's done I have to say that I'm glad I went ahead. this is the nicest spoiler I've ever seen on a Z in my opinion. It really gives it a kind of Porsche characteristic. When we finished it was kind of dark so I have to take another look tomorrow but overall even though it's not a perfect fit it looks GREAT.
I'll try to post detailed pics this weekend so you can see up close the bowing, the gaps, how they're filled, etc.
If anyone is in the Torrance, CA area I would recommend this body shop.
