Default After windows get tinted...

I'm planning on getting my windows tinted in a couple weeks from a place I've been before. The last time I was there, he told me not to wash the windows or roll them down for about a week because it might jack up the tint.

Is this a standard for tint? Did anyone else have to go thru this? Since the windows roll down a bit each time we open the doors, I was worried that the very top and bottom of the tint would get messed up. Or does all of this depend on the tinter or the type of tint?

the week wait thing must be standard, that's what i had to do. for the window roll down, you can disable the sensor which is near the the door latch until the week is over. i didn't disable it, and i haven't had problems with the tint (almost 2 years).

Don't roll them down at all for a week. The window cracking thing is expected, but make sure you tell them that the car does it so they can use the heat gun more on the bottom area. You can't roll them down for a week so the tint has time to dry properly and squeeze out any bubbles. You CAN seriously mess it up if you don't let it heal properly. Also, don't clean it for a week. After the week is up, you can clean them, but DO NOT use a window cleaner with amonia in it EVER. Use Invisible Glass or Amonia-Free Windex. I have had mine tinted on two different cars and these have been the rules. Don't worry about the window cracking thing, just make sure the place knows so they don't miss that part or don't dry it enough. Good luck with it though. What % tint are you getting?

a few days; I was told 3.

they said the roll down wouldnt be a problem. to be safe they used a heat gun to dry the top edge.

they also by default tint the entire glass; removed the door panel to get the part under the door seal. so that edge didnt really get caught each time it dropped. still probably be fine.

Wont the window hit the pillar if it doesn't swoop down a little bit? I was always under the impression that it did that for a tighter seal.

I was thinking of getting 20% all around. On my last car, I had 35% on fronts and 20% on rears. It was a 4 door so it didn't look as nice with the varied tint. I always regretted not getting darker fronts...like most I was worried about legalities. I was reading up on tints and read most people in Cali don't get pulled over for "a little darker than legal" tint.

I didn't even know about the sensor. Is it clearly visible? I'm at work now so I can't check it personally. If it is disabled, will there be a problem opening/closing the door?
