Looks great, however, I dont know why people want to get rid of their nice stock steering wheels that happen to have life-saving devices built into them, for poorly upholstered simple ones.
the Z has an aesthetically pleasing stock wheel. Enlighten me as to why peeps change steering wheels.

My sentiments exactly, I'd never sacrifice the airbag.

because airbags can cause more damage than good (in some circumstances!)

have you ever had one go off in your face as your braking hard for a turn after a long straightaway at a racetrack? I have!

For most people, airbags are great for street driving, but if you use your Z as a racecar, and drive on a racetrack, then it is necessary to remove it. or at least pull the airbag fuse (which is what I do)

Please note that the fastest cars in the world such as Formula One, do not use airbags... they do use other safety devices such as:

5+ point harness
helmet
neck support
HANS device
fire suit
et.....

for street driving an airbag is a GREAT compromise to the above safety devices which are not convenient.

BTW I saw that steering wheel on Ebay too... you should try emailing the seller to find out what type hub it uses... it is most likely compatible with Momo/Sparco or Personal/Nardi/Nismo... which all would work for a Z33 HTH

03Z33- That blows big time! I never knew that could happen from just making a hard turn. I always thought the airbag was triggered from a collision rather then hard G's. did you have a black and blue on your face from the bag? I sure hope Nissan replace the bag for free....

too clarify this was not in my Z, I have pulled the airbag fuse at every track event in this car. This was in my 93 RX7 FD which had an older generation airbag. I got some slight chemical burns from the powder... but thanks to my helmet did not break my nose, or break my neck

I am not positive that the newer generation airbags would act the same, but am not eager to test it either

No problem!

Airbags are great if you only drive on the street, and aren't super short or fat

Also, I've seen them replace the steering wheel for car shows. I also think that it's illegal to remove the steering wheel if it comes with an airbag for street use. At least in Hawaii.

Just had mine go off couple weeks ago...damn happy it did...wasn't wearing seatbelt like idiot. Anyway...if it's simple as pulling a fuse...I think the first response is appropriate...why sacrifice the stock with safety for aftermarket looks? Unless you are saying you use your Z for track "ONLY" in which case I get your point. Chemical burns and all...I'm keeping mine.

PS, did you know replacement cost on one of our bags is $1100!!!! and the other is $900!!!!! Additionally, (I didn't know this) once your bags go, the seatbelts are "triggered" also and zip tight enough to nearly knock the air out of you...if the impact didn't! AND...once triggered, they cannot be reset and must be cut...then pulled and replaced to the tune of around $220 each! Our car on a build part by part basis would likely cost you over $125,000 to build! Guess we all got a steal at the dealership, huh?

The two reasons for me to change the stearing wheel are:

quick release: easier entry/exit with racing bucket seat (nearly impossible w/stock wheel)

better size/feel for better control.

If it looks better, and gets rid of the airbag at the same time all the better.

What where you doing not wearing your seatbelt? Hope you are OK! That is scary stuff... be carefull. The seatbelt tensioning is also a good reason to use a harness when driving on track.

That's a light lookin no b.s. race wheel. I love how the 2' o clock/ 10' o clock pertrudes out like that.

I gotta admit though, for a street car our stock wheels are pretty nice minus the heavy feeling. I find myself caressing the wheel alot when I'm cruising down the freeway. It's texture is such a nice feeling steering wheel for OEM I can't stop fondling it!

I believe it's BRABUS or some similar company that re-wraps the Benz's stock Steering wheels to give them a more aggressive grip like the one above. I wonder if that's possible with our cars but I'm willing to bet the mod would cost more than a standard aftermarket racing wheel.

Yup...I'm fine..feel bad about putting my wife's wedding ring through her chin though! In case anyone is ever curious...a 1.5 carat stone makes about a five stitch hole. Should have bought a smaller ring I guess. Made the ER doc do a Nip/Tuck quality stitch job! She looks as beautiful as before...can't even notice. Regarding the seatbelt...well, needless to say, I am wearing it more often now. Guess I'm a product of earlier years mentality.

It could be a Momo wheel though the "Bride wheel" tapers out a little more on the center pillar and the 3-9 o clock grips seem thicker.

Re-badged or not I think most folks would welcome Bride expanding their product line. Lightweight, durability, quality and prestige...you can't go wrong.

That would be cool if Bride really does make race steering wheels to go along with their race seats....but i'm sure you'll be paying high JDM prices for one....haha
