FRP = Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic, usually the cheaper kits, requires prepwork, can be extensive.

Urethane is better because it can be more flexible and take hits, requires very minimal prepwork, usually more expensive. Urethane kits are harder to find nowadays.

However a new material called PFRP (Pultruded fibre reinforced plastic) can be comparable to urethane while costing less than urethane.

What he said...

and, another thing to note about urethane is that becuase it is more flexible, impacts tend to make the paint chip and crack easier.

I wish Espirit would make their front in Urethane. I know I am going to crack the sucker around Tampa, no way around it. The only urethane kit that I have seen that is a full front is the Stillen one, and I am not thrilled with it, although maybe I will be if I see it in a shot other than the one on Stillens website.

it's an mis-undertanding that poly urethan (PU) is better than fiber glass kit. It really depends on who makes them. Usually, the fiber glass kit that we got in the US are bad qualities, don't matter how good the ad said. And that's why US made FRP kits are usually cheaper. PU is very durable, but weight's more, Fiber glass is alot lighter.

If you pay attention, most of the bodykits manufacutures from Japan dont even make PU kit. They have Fiber glass, PFRP, or Carbon or Kevlar. And their Fiber glass kit's finishing and qualities alot differnent than those Knock off NISMO kit, or kit's that you usually see on HONDAs.

Regarind FRP is easier to break than urthane, that's not exactly ture. IF you hit some thing both going to break, period. However FRP is repairable, but you can't repair PU.

Another thing is, Japanese body kit are alot more expensive because the qualities. So what you pay is what you got.

I dunno my Urethane front on my BMW took some REALLY nasty whacks and never cracked. Fiberglass has no flex , Urethane does. I dunno I haven't seen any fiberglass that has give without cracking/peeling. That doesn't mean it isn't out there, but from what I know of the material, I don't think it is possible for it to flex as much as Urethane.
