Yeah, Ive seen both the vdi kit and the decah kits up close, and I have to agree that this is the nicest kit out of the bunch. When I go lambo, Im leaning towards this kit.

You have to open the doors yourself and extend them to the full extent manually, and then you flick a switch and they open on a motor at a sloooooow speed. Then you flick the swicth again to close them and when they reach the bottom you have to pull them back in yourself again.
wow, that sucks, how slowly does it go up? it is unpractical for a daily driver? cause that means you have to wait for the door to get down so you can close it. what a pain.

It takes about 15 seconds to get from the bottom to the fully extended point (door fully opened) and then another 15 for the door to fully close.

Wow, I couldn't deal with the slow amount of time that it takes for that door to open. Looks pretty cheesy (and how lazy can you get )

I'm putting the Vertical Doors kit on my car now. I own a shop here in Tempe, AZ so I'm really doing it for the advertising and show purpose of my car... however, I'd probably do it anyway. I'm considering adding the motorized feature for the show purpose. I'm shaving handles, rear wiper, and antenna... I don't listen to the radio anyway. I'll post vids and pics once the kit is installed.

I spoke to the Autoloc guys about their kit and for the 350z even they recommend the Vertical Doors Kit.

By the way if anyone wants the kit please let me know... I can get them for you all.

my M3 is going to the shop next week to have the actuators thrown on it for the lambo's to become fully motorized. Not just halfway motorized like the Autoloc kit.

I am very curious how well this will work out.

I love the fact that I can open my doors up and out of the way when I am outside the car BUT I'm finding it to be quite a problem trying to do this when I am inside the car. It is possible, but not easy.

Please keep us posted on the result.

Are you saying that you're having trouble lifting the doors from inside the car? I thought the gas-struts were supposed to do most of this work for you?

Check out this guys car... https://my350z.com/forum/showthr...&threadid=99695
he's using the universal kit that needs to be heavily modified and has CF door panels that had to be custom made to get the door open so tightly. Looks great though.

I installed the vertical door hinges in June 2004.

At first, the doors lifted very easily. Now, seven months later, it is more difficult.

Perhaps all struts loose some of their charge over time.

Since the doors open 25 degrees horizontally before going vertical, it is not a problem to enter and exit the Z.

I did some research and discovered that these struts are available in many different "door weight" varieties. I'm not sure what door weight mine are rated for. I might, at some point, swap them for a set that are rated for heavier doors.

For those of you who think this is a RICE mod......you don't have to lift the doors vertical. It is a totally stealth mod, that you can demonstrate only when you want to. Personally, I bought them so I could enter and exit the Z in my two car garage.

Ok...here's my question. By looking at the pictures you have posted it looks like that if you were next to an SUV your door would smash their window. LOL

Seriously though, and honestly, have any of you ever hit someones car because of the way your doors open now?

If you were parked that close to them, dont you think your doors would hit their car anyway even if they werent on a lambo hinge? Or rather, even more so because theyre not on a lambo hinge?

IMO i think that lambo doors dont do anything for the whole parking situation. I have never heard of anybody dinging another car or hitting their own door because of the motion of the door. But also by the same means, when I bought my doors I had no intention of using them as space savers in tight parking situations. They were for show purposes.
