what do the CF door panels do to make the door panels smaller? I thought they were just for the aesthetic look and to match the rest of his dash?

those CF door panels where cut to allow the doors to go up without rubbing on the A-pillar. the thing that sucks about it though is that they are only usefull when you buy a certain vertical door kit.

i have to find a local place that will work on my door panels. my panels are fine but my A-pillar is taking a beating.

They probably don't extend into the cockpit as far, so they clear the A-pillar easier.. Lots of people end up with 'crush marks' in their doors liners because people don't get their doors open horizontally enough before raising them and the A-pillar pinches the stock plastic door panels.

On my M3 i dont have a problem with the door panel at all. On the other hand, if you dont open it horizontally enough before opening vertically, you hit part of the molding on the side that sticks out a little. I dont know how familiar you guys are with E36 M3's, but its the 1.5-2" thick piece of plastic that goes around the car that says "M3" on the doors- Right where the door meets the fender it rubs and the paint is a little cracked.

That's correct... I called and spoke that company that made those door panels. Not only are they 800 a pair... they are 3/4 of an inch smaller where the vent meets the dash. That I was told allows for enough clearance to get the door opened. The guy also said they can make those door panels in fiberglass for 400 a pair.

here's the clincher on this diablo door kit. He said the universal kit for the 350z is one of the top 5 hardest to install. It took them 2 weeks to install this on Dave's car.

If anyone wants these universal kits I can get those for $850.

heh, my decah kit on my M3 took them 3 months.
They had to bolt it, weld it, and build a brand new pillar from scratch. It does help that BMW doors are excessively heavy. Part of the reason why I pushed to get them motorized.
