Question Nismo Wing

Hi guys, I found Nismo Wing for $350 and see knockoffs on Ebay for about $150. Do you think its worth it to get the knockoff or get the real one. Anybody know of fitting issues or durabilty issues that occur with the knockoffs? Thanks for the input.

I have heard of several people complaining about marginal (not awful) quality of knock offs. Also, the knock-offs always seem to need more body shop prep than the real deal so you don't get off as cheaply as you think when you just compare the upfront prices.

Go with the real deal . . . I paid $350 for mine and install at my shop was a slam dunk with no issues whatsover.

I'm in the process of getting a replica Nismo installed. I think that the quality is really good. The only problem is the fitment. The base of the spoiler that runs across the trunk lid doesn't sit flush. I've decided to get it cut out and have some custom fiberglass work done to it. It's going to cost like 500 to get it installed and painted. I'll have to post some pics when I'm done.

Thanks for the info, I think I am going with the real Nismo wing. Anybody know of a cheap place that I can buy it? The cheapest I've run across is for $350.

Try these guys:

Performance Nissan

$295.

I have not bought from them although they seem to have a good rep among forum members.

Real Nismo will not cover all the holes on the hatch lid if you have an oem spoiler installed. The replica ones will.

Be sure before you buy. Check on Lee Auto Mall's disclaimer.

Good Luck.

PS: I have a replica. Got it from ebay painted $325.00 shipped but I havent seen the vendor on there after the real ones came out.

Great point . . . getting the two holes filled on my car, was not an issue - as long as you can afford to overlook that pesky little detail of additional cost.

I worked the Nismo wing as part of my overall deal when I got my Z though so a replica was not an option.

Some Fiberglass Replica's will cost you 3 - 4 times what it will cost to paint the Urethane USDM rear wing...

If you have a rear lip spoiler on the rear hatch from the factory already installed on your car I can sell you a fiberglass replica of good quality fiberglass...

Jason or anybody else, do you really need the replacement hatch supports with the Nismo wing? Thanks.

I removed my weight and all the plastic on the inside rear hatch and I still have to pull up the trunk when I release it

I ordered the Nismo wing from http://www.performancenissanparts.co...oducts_id=1338 and it should arrive on Monday. Should have it installed next week sometime. I'll post some pics when they are ready. Let me know what you think. One other thing how much do you think a shop should charge to paint and install a wing?

To paint the wing we have seen $150 - 350 for paint depending on color.

If you want to drive up to us we can paint and install it for you.

I had my US NISMO wing painted and installed by WetWorks in Stanton. Total cost was $250 for both paint and install. I had the factory spoiler so they had to be very careful in locating the wing. Did an excellent job.

I dropped the body kit pieces off about a week before they were actually installed -- trying to arrange my schedule to get the car in. The actual install for the whole kit took one working day. so, I'd guess about 3 days total

Default Dealer installed Nismo Wing

I am definitely getting a Nismo Wing and not bothering with the knockoff versions but have not gotten a price through the dealer for install, what will it run? If the dealer carries NISMO do they even offer the wing or is is worth it to buy through another company?

No damage to the paint. Not being a painter, I have no idea how much they used. The finish does look a lot better than some of the factory paint, for sure.
