Now all we have to do is come up with a way of detecting that they watched it to completion and if they don't watch it fully, their sign-up is voided until they do!!!
That would be good lol... and also hideing the New Thread button to only the people who have been here for awhile knows where it is :P.
Maybe even not allow people to start a new thread till they have atleast 100 post? lol

Bwwhaaahaa....That's perfect!!! Etiquette, no matter where, is often hard to come by. That's a great vid.

Thats actually a pretty good solution. I think the theory behind it would be that the more "challenged" posters would give up long before they could start their own threads. New members with genuine problems can still get the help they need by soliciting veteran members for either knowlegable advice or to start a thread on thier behalf. Good stuff cloudy!

That or the veteran posters mailboxes would be full of PM's lol. But i personally think they would look at the site, start to look around and answer their own questions.

I was actually referring to the "which car is faster" question in the poorly written post that you quoted. Nothing you stated comes anywhere near the realm of dumb-@$$ at all.....It was intended with humor to say that "Despite the moderator badge, I agree with you 100%!"

It all good, I misunderstood .....hey, what do you mods think of Cloudys idea?? It admittedly has a few flaws but would help to greatly decrease the "hey guys I just wanted to know if the z is cool because people my friends and stuff tell me let me tell me is it cool thanks" posts.

It would be interesting to see if the VBulletin software supports such a feature. The only problem I see with this is that it might discourage membership (you'd HAVE to disclose the restriction during sign-up), and would definitely discourage return visits from new folks who could ultimately just choose to post elsewhere. This forum is a business for someone, and as such, you'd be affecting their bottom line. That won't fly (see my posts regarding banning vendors who don't provide customer service.)

If this were a private, non-revenue generating forum, we could get away with it, but alas, that's not the case.

I was also thinking about maybe suggesting that we have a newbie/welcome forum added. have a sticky with posting new threads/ has your question been answered already/search etc....etc..... but still, you come down to are they going to read it? how do you make sure they read it and all that?

them newbs... geesh! lol

One of the basic problems is that some new users are impatient and don't take the time to lurk and learn the proper etiquette. That's why you have to hit them with some rules the moment they sign up on the board. Teach them that the Search function is their friend.

I agree. The only way to ensure etiquette is to impose penalties for not using it. It's a tough balance that really ultimately falls back to "ignore the dumb ones."

"If ignorance is bliss, a lot of people are riding sky high."
I'm new here and I try to keep that speak when spoken to mentality. I'm 22 originally from Boston transplanted to Denver. With that said...I talk with an heavy accent and slang when I'm with my people, but seriously some people on this forum leave me speechless.
From the I raced a 911 and left it smoking on the side of the road to the my buddy has an sti...how do I keep up with it.
I understand that it's mostly us newbies creating the horrific threads, but you shouldn't punish the whole because of a few of us.

With that said...which color Z is the fastest???
And I heard nismo stickers add like 20 hp at the wheel.

you're completely right, which is why nothing has been done to solve this situation, because it isn't ALL the newbies. i mean, there are several of thenewbs that have been apart of other forums before and know how to handle themselves on a forum. Which is something that makes it difficult to really come up with a fair and plausable solution....
